1988 Oldsmobile Regency Calgary Winter Olympics Special

Hi everyone,

I was doing a job for a fellow in my complex building and he mentions he is selling his car, owned for 31 years. He is a bit older, and Austrian so a little bit of a language break. He is letting it go for $250 Canadian ($188USD).

It is a 1988 Oldsmobile Regency Calgary Winter Olympics Special. I guess there were a few of these produced during the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. It comes loaded with everything.

I tried to research the special edition and I couldn't find anything on it. Was wondering if any of you have some insight as to its value etc. The car is in good condition, parkade parked its whole life. 160k miles on it.

Thanks for your help,

Never heard of a 1988 Winter Olympics Special. Maybe it was sold only by Olds dealers in the Calgary area?

Ordinarily, we'd ask to see photos of a newbie's new car, but at only $250, I'm almost afraid to!

I have a fondness for GM H Body cars, the engine is bulletproof for a quarter million miles with basic maintenance, easy to work on, keeps up with traffic, and good gas mileage.
For $250 if it runs, goes backward and forwards, turns and stops, you're on a winner.
I very much doubt it is worth more than any other Oldsmobile of similar age and mileage, but in your shoes I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Roger.

It's not going to hold any additional value, as the "Olympics" edition is probably only the 5-circle Olympics logo in either stickers or a plastic plate affixed to the car.

Likely by GSL Chev (Olds) City in Calgary. Most probable just a white 1998 Ninety Eight (to match the winter theme) with special graphics added by the organizing committee. Totally a local thing.IMO not a spectacular car and likely only worth that kind of money. Someone who needs a car will buy it if it's advertised locally.
