1970 cutlass project

I'll start where it all began for me and my desire to obtain a cutlass.

when I was in high school, every day after school a red with black ralley stripe cutlass 442 would always pick up a girl from school. at the time i didnt know anything about oldsmobile all i knew was that it had a real similarity to a chevelle (at the time my favorite) astonished by its rarity. i did some research and figured out what it was. Since then I've had the car stuck in my head.

fast forward about 8 years,
I looked for a 442 for a couple of years but had no luck. Either it was a complete rusted out box or was way out of my price range (442= big bucks,W-machine= extreme big bucks) I dont make that much money so I figured it would never happen, so i basically gave up..

One day i get a call from my best friend who said he found "The car!" he sends me a link to a craigslist add and the rest is history.

The previous owner (highschool kid) ran this car into the ground. trans was blown up and the motor was huffing and puffing white smoke. so i opted to rebuild the motor and get a new trans. 6K later I'm at my current stage. Its crazy how fast the money falls in the whole.

anyways,THIS IS MY RIDE THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT BUT THIS ONE IS MINE!

Cool story. Can you post pics that aren't zip files? Money and cars? Cars are money pits. Ask anyone of us and we'll tell you the same thing. They never give back what you put into them, and like a nasty ex wife they always want more.

thanks, I do what i can little by little. I never thought I would make it this far. I'm just hoping I dont make a simple mistake that will set me back too far. it could bankrupt the project.

Thanks for changing the pic format. Looks like a decent body to start out with. Just do what you can when you can afford it. FWIW, I always keep my Mrs. in the loop of what I'm planning to do and how much it will cost. There's a trade off. She will leverage my car time and $$$ to buy Japanese dolls. I'm ok with that because it keeps the peace. Good luck with your wife; I did not mean to imply that you will end up with the bid D for getting a project car. Hope she's as understanding as mine.

Its pretty solid for what I paid for it. Interior is about 80% there minus a tear in the bench seat and a few busted seems in the headliner (no biggie). I use the same idea with my mrs. When i purchase a part I buy her somthing of equal value. thats our trade off. My wife would never divorce me(I like to think). I sacrificed getting a new truck so I could sponsor this project instead. so she doesnt get on me too hard about it. I was just goofing around about the divorce thing. thanks for the advice..
