1970 Convertible 98

Just wanted to say hello and thank everyone who’ve been assisting with some of the restoration work I’m doing on this car.

I really appreciate the responses to the one post I made regarding the electrical wiring issues.

This car was my father in laws and has been in the family since 1970. He sadly left it in a garage with rodents and didn’t get it out much... maybe put 3000 miles on it in 25 years. It was in pretty rough shape... the other 100,000 miles were put on it by my wife’s uncle who was the original owner.

After rebuilding the carburetor, replacing the front brake callipers, changing out the ignition coil, fuel pump, master brake cylinder, and spark plugs it was running again.

I had it repainted last summer... kept it the original Aegean Aqua, and now just focusing on the many electrical items not working... horn, fuel gauge, clock, and high speed heater blower.

Neglected in the garage.

Although it was under cover the rodents loved this car

Some mold from the moisture got in.

Died trying to get it home.

New paint

Many hours spent replacing rusted metal

Three months in the paint shop...

Cleaned up the engine to qualify for collector plates

Still had some chrome trim and emblems to put back on

Trying to stay original with the decals.

Would’ve been a lot easier to re attach these emblems when the doors were off

Very nice!!! Hopefully the high speed fan inop is just a bad inline fuse for high speed only.

Good luck!!!

It really turned out nice. Good choice going with the original color. These thing are real cruisers. They do tend to be a little thirsty. Enjoy the car.

Welcome, beautiful '98. Definitely worthy of the restoration it is now receiving.
