1970 442 Build Questions!

Hello my name is Todd and I have recently taken over a 1970 442 build from a guy who had taken the car apart. The guy originally building the car passed away from a motorcycle accident and now I have taken over completely. Its a full frame off restoration 442 convertible, 4 speed MT, AC, 455. I'm at the point of putting the car back together and I'm in need of some help. I have the 1970 fisher body service manual and the chassis service manual but some stuff is still unclear to me. For starters I have a plug under the dash that includes two thick solid purple wires near the brake pedal that goes into a plug that someone had cut and it also has two thick purple wires running to nothing except each other from the guy twisting the ends together. id also like to know what color wires goes into the clutch neutral safety switch. Also I'm in the process of assembling the front end and I have no idea where the grille mounts too when talking about the vertical mounting holes on each end of the grilles. Im sure I have a lot more questions but ill start with these two first. Thanks in advance! - Todd

Welcome. Thick purple wires are the starter circuit and go to the Neutral Safety Switch. On a factory MT car, these would have been plugged into the clutch safety switch. The fact that they have been cut off suggests that this was not originally an MT car.

Those wires go to the clutch safety switch that mounts on the pedal assembly.

It prevents the car from being started without the clutch pedal being depressed.
