1969 olds delta 88 Just got
How's everyone I am Jason. I am 28, active duty military guy from TN. I finally managed to get my father's 1969 delta 88 from him. Car is fully original with 80K on it. Everything is original, glass, paint, body, interior, everything except the battery. Its been parked for past 15 years and needs fully restored. I know these cars are not worth much and aren't anything special to collectors. I have a lot of childhood memories I want to keep and pass on to my own son.
It does however have the rocket 455 with original transmission still in it. All matching numbers and no body damage to car or frame due to accident.
Now the bad, Was a northern car from Ohio. Purchased in 1988 from original owner. Moved to SC in 1992 and been in the south since. Drive for 4-5 years. Then parked. Sat under covered shed. Was on the road again about 15 years. Ran just fine had a small brake leak. Wasn't needed anymore and parked again and hasn't since been turned on or anything done to it. So I know it has some body rust, and most likely frame rust if not rusted out.
Need some advice from the experienced as to where to go from here. Thanks in advance.

I deleted your duplicate thread, for specific questions, we'll help you get them in the appropriate forum.
First, welcome to the site. Second, thanks for your service. What you need to do is a thorough inspection of this car, then assess what it needs and go from there. Chances are the rot may not be that bad. I know this car has a lot of sentimental value and that in itself is a good reason to resurrect it. Good luck and post some pictures when you get a chance.

Welcome to Co and thanks for your service.
I have a special place for the 69 88's.
I had a 4 door that was my 1st car when I was 14.
Worked all summer to save up that $400.
What are your plans for it?

thanks for support. I plan on picking it up from my parents place by end of this month as soon as I can secure a trailer this boat will fit on. I am not sure yet if a U haul car carrier will work or not.
Tru-blue 442 I am not 100% sure yet. I would like to restore it. This is the first car I am restoring so it will be adventure, but with it being 100% complete and everything original I figured why not start with something that has everything and I am not searching for years for a certain piece. I am having a hard time finding any pictures or much info about the 4 door delta 88's. They really aren't restored or around I've noticed.

A two axle UHaul trailer should fit it fine, but you may need to lie to them in order to rent it.
They've got a database that says what can tow what, and it's VERY conservative. Unless you've got a 1-ton dually, it might be wise to say it'a a Cutlass.
Welcome to ClassicOlds.

I have a 04 super duty diesel with a 14k tow package so unknowns can easily Handle the weight of the car and a trailer. Not sure if u haul trailers have electric brakes I have the control mode. Also what's the wheel base ? I ve read they are 124" long but not sure on width?

Not sure how long their trailer are
but it should be fine.
I used one of them a few years back
to run to San Antonio. Took a 76 Silverado
down and brought a 66 Cutlass back using
a 3500 Chev crewcab. No problems at all.
Good luck with it. Looking forward to pics.

Your truck should be fine with them, but you can check it on their web site (you have to go through the reservation process).
Their trailers have an inertial juice brake that works well. No need for a controller.

Welcome
I don't want to come off as negative but before you haul the car and spend money on a trailer and fuel.
I would give the car a good looking over to see if the car is even worth restoring/saving.
Before you start you should have a plan and a budget because costs can pile up quick when restoring a car .
If there is a lot of rust you would be better off with a rust free car as rust repair can eat up a good part of any budget.
Good luck

Was my first car as well. 4 door, 455 2bbl with 400 trans. It was palamino gold with a black top and interior. Even had the Wonderbar Radio. It was a great car. I could chirp the wheels downshifting from 2nd to 1st if I was at the right speed. Wish I still had it....
Good Luck with it!

Welcome to CO. Because of the sentimental value you should definitely bring this one back to life. There is no need to make it a trailer queen, unless you want to. Take your time, and budget accordingly.
Join wildaboutcars.com and download the factory service manual.
Cruise Fusik, Inlinetube and OPG sites (parts vendors). Google searches for cutlass parts bring up sites that sell parts for the 88 too. Realize that the B body shares some parts with other GM makes too: buick, Pontiac etc..
The guys on CO will help you every step of the way.

I did get the car back home. Have gone through it and made a list of things to take care off. I have updated the ignition system. New plugs have been installed and I have gotten it running. I was able to find a 600cfm 4 barrel carb to replace the stock 2 barrel. Just need to get a intake manifold ordered. All brake lines have been replaced and a brake master cylinder. I need new tires on her and she will be on the road by end of this month. I'll try and figure out how to post pics this evening.
