1968 442 455 motor
Hi guys i was just wondering if a car was siitin down for a long time lets say 10 years but the motor still spins by hand if its possible tjat the pistons will brake if i try startin it..
I had the same similar questions with a 455 that I bought from my brothers friend. Had less than 5k on the rebuild and was put away 10 years ago. All he did was put penetrating fluid in each cylinder and then turned the motor by hand a few times. He let it sit for 48 hours and added a little more in each cylinder. Turned again by hand and let it sit for another 24 hours. Fresh oil and filter with a can of fresh gas. The thing turned over like a clock. Was a little rough for about 2-3 minutes but then levelled off and purred like a kitten. It's sitting in my garage now waiting to be cleaned and painted. Advice from my brother was leave it alone and don't open anything up if it runs well. There you have it...others might want to give more advice.
