1967 oldsmobile 442's

Hello my name is Greg. I live in Kentucky and I am blessed with 1967 442's. The first one is a 2 door post 4 speed and manual steering and brake car. My grandfather bought this car new and used it for his police cruiser. I have his handcuffs and night stick and a full book of citations. I has 69,000 miles it. It was never hot-rodded, however it does have a couple of dents to show along with the usual wear and tear. It is tight and runs strong. I have frozen it in time as a testament to my grandfather. It is a gift that I truly am honored to have. I have all of the paperwork that it came with, Owners manual, protecto-plate, and car shipping order. It is aspen green with parchment interior with bench seat.

My other car is a 1967 442 2 door hardtop. I bought out of a junkyard maybe 30 years ago. I found the original motor and original automatic transmission. The car was owned by the Oldsmobile dealership in a nearby town. They ere in the process of restoring the car, when the dealership went bankrupt. The owner started a used car lot and kept the motor in storage in the back room garage, thinking he might put it in a street rod. I joined them back together thus saving it from the crusher. The dealer that sold me the motor had the paperwork from when it was new. This included the original bill of sale, shipping order, protecto-plate, owners manual AND the pink copy of the special for the car where he checked off the options that he wanted and he signed it. These options were 442 package, rally pack with tach and gauges, air conditioning, bench seat with armrest, 400 TH transmission, heavy duty frame, trailer towing wiring harness, AM/FM radio with power antenna and power trunk release. The exterior is white with black interior. The original owner was 55 years old when he ordered it. I don't remember the mileage on the car but it was over 100,000.

Me... I'm just an old man to be grateful to have lived during this time. It was a good time and I miss it. A LOT of my friends are gone, so I am just trying to enjoy and live the rest of my life as best of I know how. I am a grandpa now and hope my grandson will appreciate it as much I do.

Nice stories about a great year of 442's. My favorite year as well. One 67 four door sedan Cutlass Supreme, one two door hardtop 442, and one Convertible 442 being restored for the wife to drive. Enjoy your cars, good luck!

Here are some photos .... Such as they are. I am mending from a broke back and neck.
These are photos of both my 442's. The Green car was my granddad's, the one he used as a police cruiser.
look close and you will see his handcuffs and the siren in the passenger side fender-well.
It still has the original plug wires at 69,000 miles.
Both cars are original. (not modified).

The White car is the one that I rescued from the crusher, automatic on the column.
Rally-pac and gauges, am/fm etc.

I hope your recovery goes well. It’s really hard to find anything of that vintage that is still original. You certainly have a great start. Good luck, will be watching the progress.

Thank you for the pictures. I absolutely love original cars like yours. I will take those cars over cars you can't drive All day. Thoughts and prayers for your health. I am a 67 by the way.

That's Bad A$$! Two "cousins" in the same garage! Very cool story about your grandfather's past and how it ties in with the car! Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery, and best of luck with your cars.

I am recouping very slow, and so are my cars. I had been saving to do as a project when I retired. Well I am retired for nearly 20 years.
I have had my cars for about 30. I have done brakes and such, but they need body work and paint. I haven't had them out much.
Missing having out on a lot of fun. I have also had a right hip replacement and a broken nose.

If any one here has any Delco-Remy bulletins or instruction sheets, especially pertaining to UHV-CD information, that you would not
mind scanning for me, I would be most grateful. I am wanting to read as much as I can. It could be in jpg or pdf format.

Thanks!
