Hi everyone,
I just joined the site as an owner of a 1967 Custom Delta 88.
I've seen a few great looking delta 88's on this site already!
My friend and I had fun spending several years restoring my car to the condition that it's in.

I joined because I am an oldsmobile enthusiast and I also may need some help and advice finding a few piece parts for this vehicle. (mainly a trim piece that I have been looking everywhere for)

She is road worthy at this point, just a few cosmetic things...
I'll follow up with some pics of the restoration and current condition.

Welcome. I have a '67 Delta 88 convertible. By the way, I think your car is officially known as a Delta 88 Custom (as opposed to Custom Delta 88), which was a new Delta 88 trim line introduced in 1967 and available in only two and four-door hardtop versions. Sort of like later when Olds had Delta 88 and Delta 88 Royale.

Good looking ride - very similar to my Delta! I'm sure I could find that trim piece off that model. The posting on craigslist has expired though.

The attached pictures show what I have been looking for.
I need the left side piece.

SDGreg mine is a 68 Delmont 88. But they are very similar cars. I would assume interior trim pieces would be the same.

 

I like the big cars, they make great cruisers.

 

So, you're looking for the stainless trim that attaches to the left upper tail light assembly?

 

Correct.
Somehow I ended up with 2 for the right side???
I bought a replacement set of tail lights and it came with just one trim piece.
Of course it had to be the right.

 

I know I have a spare tail light, but I'm not sure which side. I'll check it this weekend.

By the way - there are 3 RH tail light mouldings on eBay right now... no lefts

Guess what?

I just came back from my storage garage with a complete LEFT tail light in really nice condition. It has a Delmont lens in it, but you can swap the lens with yours. The molding is there, no dents either. Want a pic?

Greg, when I was taking the pics of the tail light this morning I made an interesting discovery: this is an NOS tail light assembly. It wasn't in a box so when I bought it quite a few years ago I didn't notice. Take a look at the mounting studs on the back - no threads! They mount with self-threading nuts just like exterior emblems, so no threads = never mounted. No marks around the bulb socket holes either. There are a few scratches on the silver part, it should probably be re-sprayed.

So anyway... let me know if you're interested.

 

It looks like that trim piece would probably work.
I wouldn't need the whole tail light though. It is slightly different than mine anyhow.
What is fair?

Nice to see another one of the "bigger Girls" (88/98) still around. I have some 1967 parts also. This site is the best one for the full size Oldsmobiles. Good luck, Ken

 

Greg, check with DennisG. He is parting a 67 Delmont and in his pics you can see it has the trim you need. I'm very reluctant to remove the trim from a NOS assembly and it appears you don't want to buy the whole thing.

BTW, the only difference between the Delmont and Delta light is the red lens. The Delta/Delta Custom has a stainless "grill" over the lens.
