1966 442 From The UK!!

Hi Guys and Girls,

My name is Ross and i'm the proud owner of a 1966 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Holiday Coupe. The car has all matching numbers. It has a 400ci BB, 2 Speed Jetaway trans and a Lsd, Interior wise it has power bucket seats, tilt column, power windows and gauge pack. Its now fully restored after being bought as a stripped rolling shell. My brother and i carried this out over 12 months. The car was imported in 1968 and used by the department of transport for pulling cars on a dolly system for crash testing and was retired in the mid 90's due to being replaced by a BB 70.s firebird. The car has only 28,000 miles on the clock from new and has all documentation from 1968.

If i was to post up some pictures would you be able to give me a rough indication of its value so i could let my insurance company know an agreed price.

Many Thanks in advance.

Ross

Welcome to CO!! Pictures please!!! I use a this website for a rough idea. I know some of the other members use different guides and they will probably point you to their favorite.

I don't think posting pictures would make any difference if the car is fully restored as you say.

The April 2011 issue of the Old Cars Price Guide puts the value of a 1966 Cutlass 442 2-door hardtop in #2 condition (showroom condition) at $27,300. In #1 condition (better than showroom new, not driven, basically "over-restored") the value is $39,000. According to the guide, if the car has three two-barrel carbs, add 30% to these values. If it has the W-30 option, add 90% to these values.

and a Lsd
I have no idea what an "Lsd" is, unless you're referring to what Timothy Leary used to preach a great deal about back in the 1960s.

Thanks. I liked my guess better.

Didn't Olds actually refer to this as "anti-spin differential?"

Thanks for the welcome! I will post some pictures up as soon as my computer lets me haha. Yes it says on the options list it has an anti-spin differential but lsd is easier to type!!

My 442 is unfortunately missing all the stainless trim round the wheelarches (fenders to you guys!) along the bonnet and boot edge, this was missing from the car when i aquired it and it is virtually impossible to find in the uk. I also do not have the funds to purchase even if i could find the trim as i understand that 1966 is a tricky year to get parts!!

I look forward to your comments when pictures posted.
