Welcome, I'll let others more familiar with your model answer your questions. Meanwhile post some pictures when you get a chance.

Were you checking out the red one on E-bay?
The Starfire came with the tack only in the console but I like the look of the console with the gauges installed.
Not sure if posi was a dealer option but I would think if you wanted it they would install it.
the option list was safety sentinal, ac,power windows, power vent windows, power front driver seat, power antenna on rear deck, power trunk, autronic eye, clip on hub caps (the one on E-bay has 65 hubcaps) cruise control AM radio with foot control button under the brake pedal beside the headlight switch and towing package (closed frame which is the same frame as a convertible)
I may have missed a few on this others will complete the list

Here's a typical trunklid decal.

I'm not so sure that a '62 Starfire or any '62 Oldsmobile would have this as standard equipment or as an option. There is no mention of anti-spin or limited-slip differential that I can find in Oldsmobile sales literature until 1964. There was even a Starfire-only brochure in 1962, the first year that the Starfire was offered as a separate series, and there's no mention of an anti-spin differential.

Jaunty, don't take offense but your post reminds me of the late Norm when somebody would use the term tri-power which was a Pontiac term.

My 63 has anti-spin as a factory option, I would be very surprised if it was not available in 62 as well.

1962 Starfire Options

The posi had to be special, ordered at the time of build. Of which would be on the window sticker at that time.
If it had posi the sticker is inside the glove box door, if the car is untouched the build sheet is under the left back seat tucked in the spring area. I've seen some there .
The rare options would have been power vents ,power windows, wonderbar , power ant, safety sentinel, tinted glass, autronic eye,and of coarse a/c, of which only 50 convertibles really had it from the factory, I've seen only one real one. It's been sitting since 1969 rusted in the same spot with a blown transmission from that day. Not saying all those options are rare, just naming some.
I have seen crank windows all around from factory on a convertible. Only one that I know was real and documented .

Hope this helps

Reason why I was on here was to see if anybody knows who really painted the 62 olds from factory?

Dupont, ppg, or RM?

From what I have heard from other Starfire owners at national meets and anywhere else I have talked to them, this is not something that has been reproduced yet, the foam that is sprayed on the hard board panels has not been reproduced and other owners have tried and come close. Most people have gone with a fabric wrapped panel. I'm sure some one will one day figure it out, be very careful with the plastic/chrome strips as they are not reproduced yet to my knowledge and hard to come by.
This is only my opinion and should be taken that way.
