1962 F85 Cutlass Convertible

I was lucky enough to to just receive an all original 1962 F85 deluxe convertible. Everything is intact except it is missing the gas tank. I know that parts are difficult to find but would love to keep this car as original as possible. Is this possible? Thank you for any assistance that can be provided.

Looks nice. Don't see many of the convertibles. Good luck with your project

Welcome! Very nice, should be able to find a tank that would work. Maybe a Buick Skylark if you can’t find an Olds tank?

Welcome! The 62-63 Cutlass, F-85, Buick Special, Skylark tanks will all fit. The 61 will also fit but the vent is slightly different. What part of the country are you in? I know of a tank in Idaho but shipping is a pain. Most all the mechanical parts are available. it is the trim and body parts that are hard to find. I have lots of parts for these cars in Indiana but my list is smaller than it was.

A rare find for sure! My 61 f-85 also needs a gas tank. Currently have a 17 gallon marine tank in the trunk.

Bad idea?

Ya, I think the lap belts and lack of airbags would also not be ideal for crashing.

The Pinto firetrap is what I had in mind. The number of rear end collisions caused by texting morons grows every day. And I installed three point harnesses in my 62 with no problems. I don't want or need airbags. Your choice.

Very true sir. I'm sure a guy would be much better off using a real automotive fuel cell while on the hunt for an original.
