Vintage parts are hard to find but some were made back in the iron age some show up on ebay. Good luck.

To the best of my knowledge no speed parts were built for these engines

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHEVY-GMC-SP...#ht_500wt_1180 This shows the step required to split the exhaust manifold. On the plymouth inline 6 folks would take two intakes modify them for two one barrel carbs. Some modified it for one 2 barrel carb with enough time skill and welding rods mods can be done.

I concur, Truthfully if you are wanting to go fast, there are much better options than a factory six, '40 sedan. It will be very difficult to wring more power out of that engine especially considering the deep gearing that the car came with. The '40 Olds is a very cool car, and will show and drive nicely. These cars would require a complete chassis upgrade and modification to be safely driven at high speed and would likely induce a heart attack trying to get it stopped from high speed in the factory configuration. I believe that you will enjoy the car more overall if you use the money and time to focus on the mechanical reliability and appearance items. If possible, post some photos at your convenience. Good luck!

Well to be honest, I had forgotten that you were looking for a performance intake for the six, but this is interesting nonetheless. I ran across this 257 flat eight Edmunds aluminum twin carb intake this morning. I've never seen one personally, and was surprised that it actually existed. I don't really know how much gain you would get for your investment, but still kinda cool.

I think the cool factor would be immense no mater how much faster it made it go. One can not compare antique hot rods to todays machines, kind of like a hopped up flat head in a 40 ford, ain't going to win many races against todays machined but it reeks of cool. If you can find the parts build it....Tedd

........And this was for the six.. Although I still hold my later models closely to my heart, the older cars are more adventurous and are more of a challenge for an owner/mechanic. It is fun to learn about cars and parts that are less prevalent.
