1940 2 dr. sedan series 60

I have a 1940 Olds 2dr series 60 sedan that I am restoring body to street rod. I would appreciate any advice to convert the rear suspension to more modern technology. I already have a plan to use chevelle/cutlass upper fr. control arms and modify the lower, will use either 2" drop s-10 or chevelle spindle and discs. Want to move the rear axle back 1.5 inches-may mini tub- would like to make all gm/olds. the flat original six, 3 sp. trans and rear is available for purchase and runs good.

Welcome, sounds like you have a plan for the 40. Over in the various forums under car models you will find Vintage Oldsmobiles and like minded people though I don't recall any other 40 owners, there may be. I'll be looking forward to photos and hearing more about front and rear suspension plans. Front suspension plan is intriguing and I don't recall ever seeing or hearing about one so modified. Lots of good tech advice on other parts of the site.

Have you thought about a frame swap?
I have a '50 Olds coupe and swapping the frame from a '67 Olds Vista cruiser to put under my coupe. keeping it Oldsmobile power, just a little newer.
More modern suspension and lower ride.
It is a work in progress now, should be done in a couple of months.
I'm going to start a thread on the swap, be on the look out.
Give it some thought, a GM frame with same wheel base.
