Exclamation Olds 442 Translation T-Shirt

442 TRANSLATION T-SHIRT

$27.50 – $30.50

Blacktop Yacht Club’s Oldsmobile 442 Translation T-shirt sets the record straight once and for all.

442 Translation T-Shirt

This Oldsmobile 442 T-shirt sets the record straight while feeling soft and lightweight, with the right amount of stretch. Educate the ignorant masses by wearing this Olds 442 Shirt!

50 years after the last real 442 rolled off the production line, it is fair to say it has officially achieved cult car status. For those not in the know and still call Oldsmobile’s storied Muscle Car a “Four Forty Two,” thinking it’s some sort of Cubic Inch or Horsepower designation, The “4-4-2” name (pronounced “Four-four-two”) derives from the original car’s four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and dual exhausts.

Although the name might have been a bit confusing to many it was and is sensational muscle car, with awesome power and rather un-muscle car quality it’s its handling, it proved to be a rather well-balanced car, something most muscle cars were not.

Ash Colorway Front

Ash Colorway Back

Blue Colorway Front

Blue Colorway Back

So wear this uniquely designed Oldsmobile 442 Translation T-Shirt with pride. With big bold 442 print on the back and a more subtle duplicate hit on the front chest.

While you're at it, you might want to redesign. That definition was ONLY for the 64 442 and is incorrect for later years, as in 95% of them. 442's original marketing definition was exceeded by the automatics in 65, and increasingly lost relevance as time went on. While the shirt might sell to rookies that don't know that; you'll have a limited market here. I hope it works for you.

You may want to consider a different design, like this.

which would really help us with the Four Forty Two morons.

Also, feel free to put designs up for our feedback.

Hi Koda,
GM marketing aside, our 68 is a four barrel, 4 speed dual exhaust as is our 72, so it applies there. So not sure someone needs to actually own a 64 to appreciate and buy the shirt. Regarding the design you suggest, not a bad idea, just needs to be punched up a but to be visually appealing. I’ll put it on the ever increasing list of designs to execute, we get a ton of suggestions every month so it’s impossible to keep up, especially during show season.
I agree with you about the fourfortytwo crowd, I don’t even correct people anymore, it’s too tiring.

All the best,
JW

Really, I hadn’t heard that one? Equating a standard Transmission with a W-30, that is an odd one. I’m going to do what you say 400cui, 4 Barrel and Dual exhaust. I bet I get flack from people telling me, “ That’s not what it means.” We shall see.

you will only get flack from idiots because that is what it means for 65 according to factory literature and there is a thread on here [ what 442 stands for ] where it is discussed and the literature is shown , after that it is just a name

Easy peasy :-D

(Yes, I design and screenprint. No, I wouldn't consider this anything close to a finished design)
