I hope your not planning on standing in the same room when that thing goes off ! and I'm thinking probably not a good idea after the tornado outbreak you guys had the other day . The neighbors will be running in circles .

Hully jayzus, will ya look at the caps and power transformer on that Crown!
Do your lights go dim when that thing thumps?!

I have yet to flip the switch to mono
monaural specifications 310watts minimum RMS into a 16 ohm load over a bandwidth of 1HZ-20KHz at a rated RMS sum total harmonic distortion of 0.05%
1KHz power360watts into 16ohms
Crown tests these levels with the output ***** set at 4.5 They go to 9

Judging from the pics, power output is 300W (or more!) per channel and is transistorized.
The main two channel amp in my system puts out 300W RMS and easily dims the lights at high output. I have measured significant voltage drop on the line when that occures. I also have two 70W monoblock tube amps I built in tech school but never ran them at the same time. Not sure how all this stuff would react in brownout conditions.
Had I known about this in advance I would have had dedicated 12ga wiring run to that room.
The claps of thunder dim the lights in the room so I get an inverted lightning effect, too!

dim the lights
The electrician brought over this 14ga 4 strand wire and ran a 30a circuit to where the hi-fi goes. The lights are on a different 15a run. They only get dim if the power grid goes down.
I love wailing the echoes of the storm LP on a hot scorching not a cloud in the sky day.
The LP of the woofs drives my neighbors hounds crazy

Thar storm LP seems way cool - where did you get it? What year is it? Do you get any feedback or skips at high volume? I had a big issue with CD's skipping at high volume/deep bass, to the point I had to record them on HiFi VHS to play them up loud (the days long before mp3)... I never cranked up the LPs like that though.
How does one get 30A through that 14ga cable? There are two hots, but only one neutral. Other is ground - is that being used as neutral also? I thought 14ga is only good for 15A, 12 for 20, 10 for 30. Great - my engineering mind is wondering!

I showed the pics of the Crown amp to one of the instrumentation techs at work and he has slobbered over them all day. He and I are both heavy into tube.
I bought a box of vacuum tubes at an auction last weekend- about 20 of them for 2 bucks. I know six of them work on some of my tube stuff. He can test them, so if I get one good one out of the box, I haven't got hurt.

Rob I had to go look at Frankies custom wiring job. What he did was run the black to a 15amp breaker , red to a different 15amp breaker , white and bare to neutral. The upper and lower outlets each have their own 15amp circuit total of 30amp. Not one 30amp breaker like the above post makes it sound.
The storm record was in my families record collection as far as I can remember. Early to mid 1960's I would guess. I saw no date on lp or jacket. It is a funky shade of vinyl.
I used stands get my speakers up off the floor to cut down on the bass. The turntable also has gel filled legs. You could still get the turntable to skip but you had to work at it.
If anyone on here buys the speakers I will give you the Crown amp no additional charge
