1972 convertible cutlass

I probly should have done this along time ago but better late than never right!! Bought this car in 09 its sun fire yellow with white interior bench seat 350/350 , nothing special about the car and that's why I'm building to my likings.
Goal is sunfire yellow ,black interior ,black stripes ,ram air hood , 442 suspension and being that the motor seem to run smooth , for now I'm running orig motor and trans.

Parked in 1991 I managed to get the motor running after 25 years ,put fluid in trans and it pulls just fine . I rebuilt the front suspension with all new moog parts and hd moog springs . I've now decided to strip it apart and send it to get the paint and body work done. This will be a frame on kind of job . I'm building it to drive to local shows and drive ins.

Looks good. This would be the time to check that blower fan motor and replace it if needed. Does the body guy already have the front clip?

Be sure to pop into the shop and get pics as they progress. It's always nice to have a picture documentation of what the car started as, and progressed to. Subscribed.

We found a couple small places at the bottom of the windshield , pillers and upper are solid with no issues . We order a replacement to fix it , I'm just glad it wasn't any worse .

Testing the old paint to see how wire wheel and sanding does as I really didn't want to blast it with anything . Had core support , both fenders and crossmember sand blasted.

Ok motor and trans is out. I'm taking it home . Trans is getting new front and rear seal , filter and pan gasket. Motor get timing gear set , oil pump , water pump , and of course oil pan , valve cover and intake gaskets. Car had 91k orig miles motor sounded good and it oiled good . Wife said the performance motor build will have to wait so fix the leaks and get it dependable and my 350 build will come later. So that's what I've been working on lately .

Doner doors are hung and working on the rust issues . Found some more I wasn't expecting . There was some infringement and back of both wheelwells and the river side was the worse its like the car was parked by the ocean driverside facing it of something . There was some in the lip also so he's cutting and welding in patches . Also welding up all the trim holes as he goes along .

Did you know that you can load up to 5 pictures per post? If you have the images hosted on a cloud or server, you can just copy the [IMG] code and paste up to 20 pictures in a post. Easier than one at a time - hope that will save you some time?

Your hood was OK from Fiber Concepts? Mine was a disaster. Very sloppy with the bonding glue underneath and around the air intakes. Also I had high spots on the top from the air box. My body guy had at least 12 hours into straightening it out. Glade yours came out ok.

Ok so paint is on it . Next will be working on putting it together getting ready to lay out the stripes . I sure hope this car turn out how I see it in my head. My expectations are pretty high. I did all this once befor on a 71 chevy truck. It came out so bad , made me sooo sick that after getting the truck together I just sold it cause I couldn't get over all the flaws. I don't want a 15 footer ( looks good from 15 but don't get up on it nitpicking ). I did order front bumper from tamerez hope it fits good. Updated pics coming
