B85 is the wide anodized aluminum part that is mounted on the top of the door ridge next to the window sweeps. It has a special attachment not found on other cars. If you're going to remove it for repaint, do so very carefully. It's hard to find replacement parts. IIRC Steele Rubber is the only one that makes a suitable replacement, and they're not cheap. BTW the Cutlass S with those moldings is somewhat more rare than finding them on a Cutlass Supreme. It took me almost 3 years to find a set. It's not the door ones that are hard to find, it's the curved ones at the back!
Intake and valve covers
Hey all doing my intake and lifters today can't say i have done alot of oldsmobile intakes.
Is there anything i should be aware of LOL wish me luck!
The only problem is one valve cover i bought only has 5 holes in it??? off 403 maybe?

That was a first for me - seeing only 5 bolt holes. But you're right! Here's a pic of a rebuilt 403.
403ACcompressorbracketsheadmountingholes.jpg
and another one pulled, you can clearly see there are 'missing' holes.

Now I hafta take a trip to the boneyard to see those 78 Toros they have out there with 403's. Wonder why they did that with the VC?
re: Intake? Yeah they're heavy monsters aren't they? But it's really a one man job. What you could do is put a piec of metal rod across the front of the block to hold up the front intake while you position it at the back, then move the rod out when doing the front. No valley pan? Have a look at this thread for info on the install https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...tml#post387297
You could also hold it by the Tstat inlet and rear water valve for comfort.

Thanks allen yes i have the valley pan!!.
According to that thread you guys dont like to use the rubber end gaskets???or was that just on an aluminum intakes?
And what is with the dimple thing???
i have the stock intake with valley pan i siliconed the corners so far and put the rubber on front and back so it will stay in place. just in the corners not across the center of the robber gaskets. next is water jackets on the block with silicone and on the bottom of the valley pan i will do the same for the intake ports then the valley pan goes on and repeat process of water jacket and intake ports again 1/8 inch bead.
do the 4 coeners again and put the intake on.
i have done many many intakes just this is my second time doing an olds.
did many small block chevies over the years and a pontiac 400 recently all with success.

Yes, you read that right. The comment Steve was giving Roger was to do that for the EB manifold. You're doing it right - don't try and dimple the stock intake. And really if you've done others, the Olds is not a whole lot different. Be sure to let us know how things work out.

very nice....
That's a nice color, personally I prefer the darker green that it was but that,s just me, I had a 69gto convertible that was this very light ice blue metallic with a dark navy blue interior and dark navy blue top , at the time I was ok with it but over time it was my absolute favorite color combo, is it a black interior or dark green? If it is dark green I think the light green metallic will be outstanding
