mine was very rough when I started my project but I had good floor pans,minimal rust on quarters,normal rot on lower rear front fenders etc.
you are taking in a major build compared to mine and I thought I was crazy!no offense meant!I love to see someone save oneyou have a long road ahead of you and please keep us posted with picks.the pic of the cowl to windshield rust is what I'm gonna tackle this winter,but again mine is bad but not that bad.everything is repairable

Foo,
Good luck with the project. I predict you will be very good at welding when you are finished. Are you doing a frame-on or frame-off resto?
I did my floors frame on. I replaced the pan and one floor support brace. I used goodmark panels that fit very nice. The installation will come out very clean with large pieces. From underneath, you can hardly tell they were replaced.

Cool update - it's been a while!
Looks good. How's the body coming along?
I know I arrived after the party went home, but just for kicks I have your VIN and Cowl tag info decoded. You prolly already did that?
3 = Oldsmobile Division of GM
44 = 442 model
87 = Sports Coupe body style
0 = 1970 model year
G = Production Plant : Framingham
112964 = production sequence at Framingham
Cowl (note there are duplications)
ST - 70 = 1970 model year
3 = Oldsmobile Division of GM
44 = 442 model
87 = Holiday Sports Coupe body style (fastback)
G = Production Plant : Framingham
BDY 25937 = Fisher assigned number of body provided to Framingham production
TR 933 = Blue vinyl bucket seats
PNT 20 20 = lower body color / upper body color : Azure Blue
10D = production month/week (4th week of October 1969)
What color are you planning to finish the car in?

Totally understandable. Sounds like you have your priorities in place. Hopefully it won't be another 3 years till the next major update, but if it is? That's how you gotta do it! All the best with your project.

The thread was started back in 2009. OP has limited funds and time. My442 said the same thing as you, but I think foo has his situation under control. I'm sure he looked over the market before he started this project. Don't forget one man's junk is another man's treasure.

looking better
I decided to connect the differential to the frame(excuse my poor skills at photographing). UMI Upper+Lower Control arms, UMI reinforcing arms, MOOG Springs, KYB shocks

Never truer words spoken, take bites at a time not try to swallow the whole thing at once as long as your "chewing" it will eventually get done.
I found the times that funds were low, I could work on things that didn't cost money, like cleaning parts, restoring parts, etc, just do not be like me and forget where you put them after you finished them.
looks like outstanding work so far.
I will offer another piece of advice, have the body blasted so you know what you have, and it will save you literally weeks of work......
