what good is an assembly manual

If no one @#$%%*& bothers to read it . I show up to the mechanic who is now rewiring my car because the body shop had such a difficult time with a BRAND NEW harness . They are wondering where this goes and that goes. I ask - have you looked at the assembly manual, their answer "well kind of." I get it it out and in less than 10 minutes find the answer - it ain't perfect and I am still waiting for the wiring diagrams to be delivered but in the meantime you can figure out a pretty decent amount of stuff if you just read a bit. Unbelievable - kills me to wonder how much money I have spent on their employees trying things 5 times instead of taking an extra 10 minutes to use some deductive reasoning utilizing the assembly manual and doing it once or maybe twice.

Maybe you should take it home and finish it yourself. Since they don't know how to read.

This is what happens after 30+ years of trying to destroy public education. The number of people out there who have never learned how to actually think gets larger.

Believe me, that has crossed my mind a thousand times, yet they say they are working out the issues on their dime not my dime. In the end I am sure it will be beautiful but boy its frustrating, kind of watching people kill fly's with hammers.

I had the same issue long ago. They seem to enjoy guessing at stuff then having to do the work over again, rather than have to read something...

But it works well, don't it - and fun, too!

Cynical, but so true...

Part of the above mentioned problem. And what happens when you couple that with being paid by the hour.

this seems to be worldwide phenomenon... my 2 shops (paint + electrics) did not bother to check the manuals i ordered for them, too.
and i did order everything (even more, then they would need) as literature, just to make sure, they are able to finish the job after 4 months planned time-frame.

the result after the restoration:
- water enters trunk
- motor of rear passenger window unoperational
- wiper switch defective
- ....

only some minor things, but still annoying. i am paying for all this...
