Question Toronado fuel tank

I have two Toronados 68 and 69 both barn finds and I have the 69 running but it chokes out of fuel after about two miles. I cleaned the tank replaced filter and pump. Im thinking I may need to replace the tank. Do they exist? Does anyone have an idea why it starves for fuel after a short drive? Oh yah carb was removed and cleaned. Both have been sitting since 1991.

Thanks
MC

I've search and cannot find one for my '68. The gunk in mine kept clogging my inline filter. Removed the tank and cleaned it now it has a pinhole leak. Just not many new parts for these cars. If you find a new one please let me know.

If the tank does not leak its not bad. Did you remove the float assy and check to see if the sock was covered in goo? Were the rubber lines replaced? Did you blow out the fuel lines?

Toronado fuel tank

Thanks guys I will go over all points you mention. Has anyone tried an Eldorado fuel tank? Maybe those aren't available either.

I searched a lot to find a repro tank and AFAIK there are none made.

A guy on the Toro facebook page claimed to have found a viable alternate that was from a full size GM something or other, but he never got the info to me.

I gave up and got a tank repair kit that seems to have taken care of the pinholes.

As old cutlass says though, if it does not leak, your problem is not the tank.
