Spintech or Flowmasters??
Spintech or Flowmasters??
So my 350 Rocket is back in my 72 Cutlass Supreme and running. It's time for me to get an exhaust. My engine is bored over .30, lunati 262 cam, edlebrock performer intake, holley 770 carb, and full length hooker headers. I'm wanting to run 3" pipes from the headers to the muffler and then 2.5" from the muffler to my trumpet tips. I'm debating between the Spintech Super Pro Street 9000s or the Flowmaster 40 Series. Any suggestions?
Also does offsetting the inlet/outlet on the muffler really make a difference? If so what would you suggest on that as well?

Hooker aero chambers. I run them with an x pipe and turn downs at the rear axle. You wanna talk about turning heads. all i have to do is tap the throttle and it goes from cruise mode into pissed off animal mode lol. Of course it is loud and im debating on making it quiet to put it on sleeper status but it sounds so damn good lol.
I ended up going with the spintech super pro street 9000s with a 3 inch inlet and a 2.5" outlet for my trumpet tips. I heard them on a friend of a friend's car and I was sold. I'm also going to run the x pipes.
This video is what first turned me onto the Spintechs...

I'm running Spin-Techs on my 67. Quick specs: a well built
455, Hooker headers, 3 inch Mandrel bent pipes, "with X pipe" to the muffler and 2.5 out back. The sound at idle sounds like "Old School" muscle-nice. This car with this set up, when really you hit it hard it sounds like a new Challenger SRT-8, Vette etc. At speed 4th gear, 65MPH, has very low mellow great sound at 2,600 RPM-nice. I have read that the X pipe and header tube size-collector can make a sound difference. That said, I don't care for the sound when you really get on this 455-just me "Old School". I have a pair of Flow Master 44 for the 64 pro touring build no X pipe, 3 inch Mandrel all the way out, may have it running by years end.

Love my Aerochambers, and I agree... they sound mellow yet tough at idle, but put some load and RPM thru them and they get pissed! I had mine dumped, but put the tails on before the Power Tour.
I may add cats to the car, if they mellow it out too much, I may pull the Aerochambers and try some Spin Techs. Had them on a stock 05 GTO and loved them.
I had Spin Tech's thru an x-pipe, great idle sound, but kinda loud at a stop light..sold them and installed Dynomax Ultra Flow welded...much nicer sounding, in fact I have a lot guys asking what mufflers?
