New Top

I had a new top installed. I bought an Electron vinyl top(with new cables and pads) from Convertible Top Specialists and had it installed locally (Well, 1.5 hrs away). It's tight and works perfectly, I'm happy with the results. The installer walked me through the procedure and this is definitely a job left to the experienced (or the overly ambitious with ALOT of patience.)

In this 98 degree weather it was nice to be able to put the top up and run the A/C.

VERY nice looking top job! How did it all line up around the rear windows?
My top is pretty much a "dust cover" for storage purposes.

Go ahead, brag all about your working A/C...

It fits almost perfect on all the windows. I spent alot of time adjusting the windows prior to the top install. I set them all at the same height and the right position fore and aft to make everything equal all the way around. The Fisher Body Manual explains all of the adjustments. It takes a considerable amount of fiddling because one adjustment creates the need for another adjustment until you reach a happy medium.

After the top install I put all of the weatherstipping on and everything fits tight. I washed it yesterday and sprayed water all around the windows to identify any leaks. There were a couple of places where I need to tweak the weatherstrip, but nothing major.

My Father in Law will not own a vehicle without A/C (except his Harley). Back in the fall we were talking and I made the comment that the Cutlass was a convertible and it doesn't need A/C. I take that back... Gonna be 100 today
