Looks like you're getting plenty of practice fabricating and welding Ted.

I wish..

I wish my fabricating skills were this good!
I hired a friend to do it for me in my shop.
I do the tear down, but he is the fabricator.

That said, I have learned a lot from him about fabricating/metal work in the last two weeks, and at the same time trying to keep to a budget...

There are 2 other friends involved in their own resto's in my shop...a 69 mustang convert and a 51 Fud PU...we help each other when asked. Both are VG welders and mechanics and are helping me out a lot....both in enthusiasm and in mechanical aspect....
All of us share the shop, and divide heat and hydro 3 ways....has been working out well

Ted

pin sripe help

Did these cars come with double pinstripes, that would have matched the dash pin stripe?..

Ted, I think just the 442's got the twin dash pinstripes. Aren't the dash pinstripes always white?

Allan, I posted the the same question in the 442 section...
I am trying to find out if the pin stripes found on the dash would have been the same as those found on the body.....I always thought there was one stripe but when I look I can see the faint outline of what appears to be two stripes...
Dash stripes I assume would have been available only in white, but exterior stripes were apparently available in 4 colors.....

That fab work is looking really good Ted! Sounds like a nice arrangement on the shop sharing. I wish I could get into something like that. There are so many times you need an extra set of hands or eyes on a project.

seats done!

I did have the seats recovered by a pro...an older gentleman who has been doing it for 45 years...you should see his shop! He did a good job!
I included pics of the seat tags only because it is the first time I found 2 in each seat...one for headrest-colors-and one for A body seat

Sammy has the right idea....I think I should kick him outside once I awhile!

This is a big event Ted. I hope all goes well at the painter. How long do you anticipate Sammy will have to wait for it to come back.?

Not that long ago, this car was sitting in a driveway, awaiting certain doom...with a lot of work, we bring these cars back...very cool!

Thanks for your vision Ted. You and others doing it
are the inspiration for more guys wanting to do the same.
And keeping them from the jaws of the import builders
is always a good thing in my book.

I hope to get back to my 69 442 one of these days...
Time will tell. My house will be paid off in Sept.
That can't do anything but help everything.

Thanks Allan! Glad you had a good trip!
The local float service I use is used by the local police for their towing needs....and they are compelled to advertise this on the side of their trucks..good PR I guess

Adam, congrats on the soon to paid mortgage!!! ....another few more years for myself....
Hopefully you can get back to the 442...it's waiting for ya!

Ted?
I can't imagine how disappointed you are with those results...so I'll be a true friend and come down and bring it home with me so you don't have to look at it anymore. It'll give me a summer project....

JK - now it's down to the details and trim. You must be getting a bit excited?

I am trying to find out if the pin stripes found on the dash would have been the same as those found on the body.....I always thought there was one stripe but when I look I can see the faint outline of what appears to be two stripes...
Dash stripes I assume would have been available only in white
I have seen black dash stripes, and there is only one body stripe.

Thanks for the support !
I will have no trouble finding it in a parking lot....interesting color...
I will start with the front and rear light assemblies...that way I can drive it sooner
I am going with the steelies that came with the car painted body color...I know this is not correct, but I think I will like the look....pov caps or the spokes?watcha think?

Poverty caps, my buddy put them on his '68 last year, they really look good, he is using B.F. Goodrich T/A's, as that's what he had for a couple of years, he wants redlines, but damn they are expensive.

Wow looks great, I will be a naysayer and vote for the spokes I think Poverty caps have been done to death I mean I like em but nowadays everyone does it and for every marque, now a set of spoked hubcaps that would be cool lol......
