Sammy"s Save ..68 442
Thanks Adam
The heater core will wait till Spring.....temps here are going down to minus 7C tonight, but are supposed to be warming up later in the week.....
It really is pretty cool to drive a car around that has not been running in 30 years....esp when you worked hard to get it to that point....the rest is not as exciting.
How are the temps in Marble Falls, Texas?...sorry, had to type it
!

I will get some of the family to help me post a video....
Allan, I bought the MagnaFlow system..2.5".The problem is that the x is right in line with the transmission hanger. So I need to do some cutting and custom bending to get it to fit....keep ya posted.

exhaust in...the system needed some custom bending and cutting for down pipes and moving the x so it was behind the tranny mount....too much for me, so a local exhaust shop did it for me....then a friend and I jumped in it and took it to a local shop for gas and show it to some car mates...taillights delete
Ran SAweet. Next is to change and clean tranny fluid and filter...it had a top up when I got it but I never did drop the pan....

My bodyman is confident that he can straighten the quarters on my 69 Cutlass but would like to have repair panels for the rear wheel lips. I don't think just repair panels are being produced for the 68/69 style. Do you know what brand and the cost of the quarters you had installed. I'll follow your thread, I like seeing cars being saved, I though/think mine was/is worth saving although it just a well optioned Holiday and not a 442. - Steven
They were not cheap, 400 or 500 apiece, and we picked them up. Do not hold me to that price, they may tell you a different amount

some more...
1st and 2nd pic...the old tranny filter and cleaned up tranny pan with new oil and filter, gasket
3rd...oops, forgot the gas gauge wire when I put the tank in...
4th....the car has no front body mounts....all the others are there and in fairly good shape.....it does not look like they were ever there....the car was put together the first week Jan, so maybe the line was recuperating from New Years!

It's pretty much impossible to line the front end up with them missing. They're an inch thick and usually have 1 or 2 shims under them, are you sure they were missing? (are you talking at the core support?, I can't tell from the pic)
finally...
It"s first burnout!
She is beautiful and wants to go.
Checked the timing today and it was good.
BTW, the mounts are there, I was not looking far enough!

All this Willow Gold talk got me thinking....I called the body shop and did a last minute color change on my '68 convertible...was going to be that blah looking silver green color....Willow Gold it is! Trunk and door jams will be shot this week. Thanks for the eye opener.
body works
Started rest of body over the last week.
I made two patches for behind the front wheels...
The rest of the body is in pretty good condition all things considered.
The hood had one small hole at the nose..welded a patch
Car has been painted once.
The drivers side bumper was pushed in at some point. The placement of the bumper was far from accurate
