Robski is back at it on the Starfire A/C work
I thought my days of wrenching were over but NOT. Only car left is the 63 Starfire that I will sell at some point. In the meantime, this is an original 36K mile car and it was determined that the expansion valve needed replacement in order to get the A/C nice and cold again. Taking this car apart was amazing for 60 years old-NO RUST. Actually things went well, to well to be true until I twisted the oil line at the expansion valve. If I would not have done such a stupid thing I would not have to had remove the evaporator box assembly. I already replaced the STV with an update kit from Old Air Products as well as R134 conversion. There is place here close by that can cut the oil line off where it's twisted and install a new piece on the Harrison evaporator core ( I hope) I'll run over there Monday. But in the meantime, now that it's that far apart I'll go ahead cleans thing up, paint some parts etc. Some pictures here will show you just how clean and preserved this Starfire really is.

Back at it
Hey Buddy,
Glad to see you wrenching again! I've been in forced hiatus since moving from California to Nevada. All 3 of my cars have been in cold storage at my Mom and Dad's place for a year. Just finishing up my shop build at the new house. Lift is supposed to be installed on the 20th, so I hope to move the cars soon. Best of luck with that oil line, they can work miracles these days with the technology available.

Congratulations !
You got the boo boo fixed.
Did you use a piece of copper pipe and a compression union, like I suggested?
Thanks for posting the pic of the inner fender.
Now I know exactly how and where the fender flaps mount.

Charlie went over to place called Hose Fast there are close by. I was in and out in 20 minutes, $25.00 that's it....Everything is back where it should be with new O-rings, sealed the evaporator case, and some new fasteners. Just need a few hands with the hood and drive out to my buddy's shop for a leak check and recharge. On to the next project-power seat isn't tracking parallel.
