Boy, you know, I have been stewing on this since yesterday...
There are folks who like stock, and there are folks who don't. Why must one throw stones at the other? I am one of the stock folks, with all the books and paint chips that you're mocking. That is what I enjoy about the hobby. I hope I provide good information to others on these boards (and other places) - even the modified folks, and I have my nose a little out of joint in regards to your above comments. I don't need to be criticized for wanting to have a stock car, and I don't criticize those who want to modify their cars. If I wanted to criticize others' cars, I'd be busy all day long, as I see quite a bit of modified stuff that I don't care for. But I don't go around crying about what did somebody to screw up a perfectly good (and often times rare) car. I just keep my mouth shut (except for now), and move onto the next thing. I figure it's the other person's car and they can do with it as they wish - no point in me being negative and judgemental. I can appreciate the time, money and (often times) ingenuity that goes into some of these modified units - but it's just not for me.
Why in the world would anybody in their right mind want to botch up something as beautiful as a '62 Starfire????
Sorry, Maskinen, I didn't mean to hi-jack your thread. I'm still working on finding the service bulletin so you can adjust your transmission linkage, and will post it here soon.

I didnt intend to offend anyone - I wanted to compliment hudsoncustom for having the ***** to do something different from stock. Please answer this - when was the last time did you see a modified '62 full size with shaved door handles, shaved emblems, maybe a dual quad, etc?? I can tell you this - I have never seen one in person. So if chalk marks on the firewall get you excited, more power to you

I can relate to your situation, not enough money to do it all the way. I try to realize that and generally keep away from the cars (and parts) that truly have potential for a full body off frame restoration. If I see a set of original behind the back seat hand grabs for my '46 I pass them up for a retorer, my custom won't need them.

Hi! im about to order some 3bar spinners and i need to know what the center dia of the wheel is, ihave my car 90 miles from here,so therefore im asking you guys,

What i ment with spinners is the small 3 bar spinners thats fitted with the boltpattern? here take a look so you know what i mean:
Is it possible to make this kind of spinners fit on my ugly chrome spokes,
i think they can be cooler with these

Here you go, Filip. This is from the November 1961 issue of the Service Guild Training Manual. The Service Guild was a monthly supplement for Oldsmobile technicians. It's important to know that the last three issues of the year generally apply to the following model year. If you were to get a set, October through December of '62 will heavily apply to the new '63 models. You'll also want to track down October through December of '61.

I like most old cars and would not consider myself to be just an "Olds man" so I am not familiar with all the different Olds models. I am not really sure I ever saw a 62 before either and you have two in Sweden! Seriously though, I wish you luck on your restoration, they really are beautiful cars and I am sure you turn a lot of heads when you're driving.

Well its been a really long while since i updated!
So what have i done this summer, Nothing but drive it
the car is running like new and the slimjim is shifting like a dream now
but some modifications :
i just got crazy at those not so sexy tailpipes so i found a pice of chrome pipe and replaced them
to these
earlier i replaced the old front speaker that was not working to a pair of speakers i found just taking space, then i changed all instrument lightning to new chrystal white leds, what a diffrence
and thats what i have done

Last saturday me and some buddys went out for a autumn night cruise:
Well have a nice one! i will begin the body part soon and then i will post alot of more pics

Having it run good is the best part - the cosmetics are just "bonuses"...
Looks like you made more lots more progress than me - our summers here in TX are too hot to be wrenching outside.
I do like you night cruising pics; although they make me miss my fun times when I was in Sweden...

Wow, that picture with "Ol' Blue" reminds me of some mountains I was in north of Kumla. I was there 10 years ago in April on a business trip with Ericsson. The company was in Kumla and I was staying in Oreboro, right across from the castle. A coworker drove me to the mountains and we took a bus tour to Stockholm to see the Vasa and the open air museum.
I was in Sweden again in March 2006, arriving by ferry from Estonia. I saw the Archepelego and visited Stockholm a while again.
The next day I traveled to Oreboro by train and later stayed in Malmo a few days before leaving out of Copenhagen.
In all those days I never saw an old American car - just those little plain midget cars that are typical there and all of Europe and Asia.
I am sure your big cars really stand out from the crowd, and they look great!
Also, both times when I was in Sweden I was hit on by very pretty ladies, both times as I was wating for a taxi to leave to my next destination...
Too bad I could not understand ALL that they were saying to me!Keep up your good work and keep the pictured coming!

Damn it!!
Today when i was trying to install my new headliner i discovered that i am missing a pair of mouldings as you can see::
Do some of you guys know where i can finsd these missing pieces and will it fit froM other GM cars? like impala?
as you see at the pictures im NOT done with the installation, ican´t strech it enough without the "mouldings"
hope you understand what im missing

well its been a while since i updated,

so my poor olds is now standing outside in the terrible weather,
in two days it has snowed horrible!

Somehow I missed you post about needing the molding when you did the headliner last fall. What became of your search for those? Did you find any, and how did the headliner turn out?

yes i have find the missing pieces to the headliner from a impala,
but i havent done anything about the headliner yet, you know its so cold here up north so i must sadly wait to the spring,

well finally i got some spare time today,
so i begun to modify my doorpanels,
todays work i only have pictures of the driverside, more to come tomorrow
the color combination doesnt be fair with the camera,and the clammers? is just holding the bottom section wile its beeing glued, the middle section is from my couch in my livingroom, well its MUCH better then before, i will post some pics of it later

You are coming along well despite the cold long winters you guys get there! The snow should be gone in a month or so...
It looks like you had your camera set to the sepia mode to get those last door panel shots - they have a nice old-fashioned look to them, like vintage photos.
Door panel looks good! Glad you can work on it inside. Uhh... what color it is really?

Cool project! When you rebuilt your door panels, how did you reattach the metal piece on top of the new panel? Or ar you using the original panel? Let me know if you need anything, I might be able to help.
