My Ongoing '75 Cutlass Supreme Project

Well, I felt that it was time to post about my ongoing '75 project.

A little background, this was my grandfather's car, it was a garage kept, sunday cruiser. As his favorite grandson (and the only one with any interest in learning about cars) wanted me to have it when I started driving. When he passed the car was put in storage for 2 years until I was able to drive. I love this car to death, and I have worked very hard on restoring it, and doing a little hot-roddin

So here are some pics:

When the car first came out of storage:

Gettin rid of those old spoke hubcaps with some nice muscle rims

Love having access to a lift and air tools too

We redid the entire suspension with all new parts, this car drives much tighter now, no longer a "floater"

Me being told what to do by my dad

New Crome Valve Covers add just the right touch

New BIG front sway bar (at least 3 times bigger then stock)

Back on all fours:

Pulled the interior apart to find a large piece of Aluminum (my grandfather had his on Aluminum business) covering the drivers side floor pan, lifted it up and to my surprise what was there? A HUGE FLINSTONE SIZE HOLE! So, cut that out, got a replacement floor pan from Goodmark, fired up the welder, put it in and sealed it with some seam sealer, looks like it came from the factory after I painted it:

Next came some tranny work on my good 'ole TH350 (preping for a 455 )

New Shift Kit, and a HD Stall Converter, New Tranny Pan filled with some nice blue Trick-Shift

----

Some More Crome Under the Hood:

----

New Steering Wheel, and Tach:

----

Retro Sound hooked me up with a sweet radio to fit the shaft style dash

---

With all that tranny work, and a 455 in the future why not put a tranny cooler in there?

----

So my front rubber piece under the front bumper was falling apart and looking crapy, so I was able to find a replacement and installed, looks great now

(Old one is still attached, new has my shoe prints all over it (Why? I don't know..))

Went to go look for some parts in a junk yard and came home with something special..... a 455!

(also something funny I just noticed, I purchased a little digi cam (I only had a dig SLR) to take pictures to document the car and know where parts go, when I took the first pic (in the back of the van of the 455) the image name is IMG_0455.jpg, just noticed this now and thought it was kinda funny.)

Well, since the LI / NYC Olds Car Club show is tomorrow, I decided to do a couple of projects that I have been waiting to do

Project 1: White Roof, get out of here, Black Roof

(you can also see measurements being taken for project 2 (hood pins)

Project 2: Hood Pins (will upload pics tomorrow)

Project 3: Roof Rail Weather Striping, its the only weather striping that hasn't been replaced yet, and I even found some hidden treasure from the Olds Plant

Drivers Side, A-Pillar, between the weather strip and the pillar look what I found

See it?

It's a corner of an old $20 bill, I thought this was really cool, and sealed it back in there

Well, I have been to busy working this summer to do much with the car, but hey, now I have some money to play with, this fall

Here is the plan:

- The 455 is pretty much done, the heads were what held it up ($800 is a lot, for one head) and my spare room has become car parts storage

Pic is to large for the forum, please view here: http://nxtgenpc.com/olds/8/302001.jpg

Hehehe, look at that, it looks so sexy in bed

Pic is to large for the forum, please view here: http://nxtgenpc.com/olds/8/30200.jpg

So, now done to the fun stuff, well spending money isn't fun (unless I can spend someone else's? Anyone??)

More 455 Stuff:

Mondello:
Oiling Accessories
  • Oil Galley Pipe Plug - $9
  • Lifter Oil Restrictors - $95
  • Oil Restrictor Kit - $39
Flexplates
  • High Proformance Steel Flexplate Balenced - $199
Head Gaskets
  • Copper Head Gaskets - For Custom Bore (30 over) - $229
Exhaust Gaskets
  • Copper Exhaust Gaskets for Edelbrock Heads - $79
Other Gaskets
  • Olds 455 Valley Tray (Not Turkey Pan) - $39
  • Steel Shim Laminated Oil Pan Gasket - $37
----

SummitRacing
  • Harland Sharp Roller Rockers for Edelbrock RPM Heads - $255.95
  • PerTronix FlameThrower HEI Tuneup Kit - $132.95
  • PowerMaster Master Torque Starter - $194.95
  • MSD 8.5mm SuperConductor Spark Plug Wire Set - $82.95
  • PowerMaster Street Alternator 140 Amps - $181.95
That's all that's left to order for the engine, what do you guys think? I know there are some mixed reviews about Mondello (not Joe, but the company that sells under his name) but they seem to be the only place that specializes in Oldsmobile Performance parts like that.

I'll post what I still have to buy for the car here shortly

Thanks,

Jim

I like it! I was set on changing the color to a different color red since the body will be redone soon anyways, but after seeing yours, I'm rethinking it. Is that the original paint just polished up? I also kinda like the black top. Can you take some more pictures from all around a little farther back for me?
