My 1962 98 4d hardtop.
Hi,
As some of you guys know I have a 1962 98 Holiday Sedan who I bought in December 2009. Here I will upload pictures of the process of making it road worthy again, comments and advice will be appreciated!
The car was bought in Redding, Ca at a local wrecking yard called Gustafson´s Auto Wrecking. Runs and drives, tags was 2008, according to the title the car is from Redding area.
Starting with some pics of it as I´m still waiting for the car to arrive to Sweden, will be in late February.
As for now, the car needs the inner roofrail mouldings ( aluminium i think ),
headliner, anyone know if there is repro´s made for them or if I have to replace it with a sewn one?
Already bought a pair of backup lenses as one of them is broken.

Thanks, Mike

What a find. It looks really straight, rust free and complete even down to the wheel covers. 1962 is my favorite year for the big 1960's Oldsmobiles. Wonder how the heck this car ended up in a junk yard.
Hi again, my father found it just after the yard owner bought it and it sat on the roll back when he first saw the car. Was an old for sale sign in it with $2000 on it I think, we bought it for $1200. Sending some more pics.

Got my 98 home yesterday, here are some pics of it in the snow....and we have lot of snow now, several big buildings have collapsed due to the snow, the local schools are closed and so on...
Hi again,
started the ´62 yesterday, runs really good...so i thought why not try if it moves? Put the drive in and of we went to find out that there were no brakes the pedal fell right to the floor , and with a little to high idle it didn´t stop when I let go of the pedal, so what do you do? well you´ll wait for the big bang to come but I missed the garage with 4 inches and hit a big pile of snow.....
Today I adjusted the idle, runs better now... seems like it has higher idle when its cold, is it supposed to be that way? Don´t think my Electra does like that...
Cleaned out the trunk today, sanded it down and layed the first coat of primer. No rust at all in the trunk... still white paint on the floorboards. The chrome on the car is almost like new, small scratches on the bumpers, other than that it is pretty good.
Anyone who has a dashpad for the fawn colored interior? Also need a good steering wheel. No hurry as it will be a daily driver...

hi the higher idle cold is correct, the choke is working. you can "kick" the pedal and it will come down to regular idle, but I always let it come down by itself while driving. My cars will idle at 25 mph until it comes down off high idle, but I have good brakes! Need them!!
