1953 Hardtop
Making progess on the 53 project. Frame is done & painted -1975 Nova subframe added for steering & disc brakes. 1967 Toro 425 ready to go in with Turbo 400. The 75 Nova differential was exactly the right width and has been rebuilt with limited slip & 3.42 gears .Last 6 months devoted to body work....... Just got the car painted. Color is the GM "Torch Red" with black top , with red pearl added to the black. Top of dash done and the trim pieces along the top of the doors also done in the black ;dash bottom done in the red. Engine compartment done with "Hot Rod Black"-easy to use and produces nice finish.Have attached some pictures. It just might get done by my birthday in July !
Glass Needed
I need all new glass for the car. Would appreciate any assistance you can provide for referrals/suppliers that you have used . Should I go with all clear ,all tinted, or part clear and part tinted ? Also, the original glass (all broken )is very thick - is it possible to obtain replacement glass of the same thickness ? Thanks for the advice, John.
Looks really good. The red makes it pop. I will watch this tread with interest as I am also looking for glass for my 48 Olds. I have searched the internet and there are several vintage glass providers out there. I have heard that the new glass is not as thick as the original and does note fit NOS gaskets very well. Hpe someone has an answer for you
Nice progress John!!!
There's someone on ebay selling sets of glass for vintage cars. I think his location is Blachly Oregon... never heard of the town! His prices sound reasonable but I don't know anything about the quality of the glass.
For 1967 glass I just went to a local glass shop and they were able to order it for me. John
