Maniac Escaped the Asylum, Grabbed Another 442!

Another project car on the way, really dont know what I bought...yet! Car is coming from Colorado to NJ. Its a 67 post 442, 4spd bench seat car with Rally Pack dash. The 400 is gone, now a 350. Its a non running car 5V, 2L K-K paint. When it gets here will assess and report what find. Seller said it was his wife's father's car and has been sitting many years. Was tough to get any real answers about it as the seller not a real Olds guy or car guy. I know the resto will be costly with the aqua sport interior (Not Reproduced) but i just couldnt resist this one!

Very cool! I love the post coupe, bench, 4 speed combo.

Personally, I would abandon all hope of redoing the interior if you need SMS to help with interior materials.
Been waiting 3.5 years on them for my red car.

Cool car. Great colors. Good luck Joe. Kenny and Wayne said you were going to pick up a 442. Sorry I missed you at Carlisle.

Turd take 2, arrived last night. I want to know if there is a market for rodent feces as there is plenty of it in the trunk, bigger turds like opossum or racoon maybe? Was late so will post picts. Car sold new in Ft Wayne Indiana in April of 67 says protecto plate.

The car doesn't look bad at all. From all the pictures you posted, it looks to be mostly in-tact and rust free. The trunk photo looked a little scary and if it's covered in crap, you'll have your work cut out for you back there.
Where are you located in NJ? I was born and raised around Howell township but haven't been back there in years. Tons of hot rods and musclecars running up and down route 9 when I was a kid in the late '60's / early '70's.

Looked the car over today and there are a few disappointments... The trans turns out to be a Saginaw 4spd, shifter though is nice and original 442. The rear has a code WB a P type 10 bolt cover which seems to be an open highway gear. Gas has varnished in the tank. Front floor pans are needed and possibly the trunk floor also. The 350 has #5 heads so its probably a 1968 unit, it is not seized and has normal looking oil on the dipstick. Hood lip shows no underside rot, 442 grill, headlight tins, front bumper, and core support are nice. Most side moldings are with the car and cleaned up well. In my 67 parts stash I have most things to make this car nice and correct! I still love it.

Moderator please move this thread to the Major Project Forum since now the 442 is being restored. Had today to to de-turd the car more cleaning is needed. So far a 5 gallon bucket full has been removed. Seller said there were pack rats living in the vehicle. I asked how old the feces were and he said about 20 years. With Hanta making the news I was concerned so I suited up with a hazmat suit and n95 mask. With a clear view of the trunk floor I see rot so new metal will be needed.

I agree. Amazing how good the trunk pan looks considering what was stewing on it for 20 years.

The de-turding continues with massive amounts under the seats and on whats left of the carpet there. Working on getting the seats out next session. Somehow the door panels survived and are rebuildable!

Do you need a ‘67 400E with a MT crank? I have one in the garage that is not being used. It’s disassembled and original parts in boxes.

Guy named Mark Sain has a ton of parts for 64-67 cutlass 442. If you need anything give him a call. A real gentleman and fair pricing.

Joe, A more clear and reversed photo of the POP would be nice to see. What little I could glean is the 442 engine code "V--------G" and the rear end code "PTG" which is an open 3.90 gear Pontiac type rear. I could not find an "MB" code rear listed in my copy of the '67 PIM. Damn nice hood on that beast! BTW, are we still good on a bucket seat upholstery pattern from one of your post car redoes?

Here is a picture, I googled rear code MB there are WB codes, and things like a 66 GTO 389 performance rear, to something special ordered, to a 256 open. This one is the P type 10 bolt cover. I should pull the cover and see... No evidence of a Limited Slip sticker on trunk lid underside.
