First off this looks great. Nice work.

What year W-30 cam & why did you choose that cam? Modern camshafts offer a lot more performance than the factory grinds.

Just going with 1970 spec cam. Car has AC and 400 trans. That motor will give all the HP and torque I'll ever want.

New oil pump

Everything was going great as stated above and then......put the shaft down in the block to the oil pump, put a ratchet on it to spin it a few times.... It feels like someone put rocks in it!!!!. Long story short brand new pump and the impeller gears have been ground WRONG !!! @#$!%^&*(!!! So flip the motor over and pull the oil pan and remove said pump. Thank goodness we only had about a half a quart of oil in it from assembly Oh well....

Which W30 cam? The stick shift version won't play nice with a/c. Where did the oil pump come from?

let it roll dude and let it hang we need a drag day at 41 etc in late september really though re-consider your cam maybe a jm 18-20 or 20-22 for power brakes by mondello you have a hell of a bullet there why waste power! the 18-20 or 20-22 will get you with a 3.42 11 or 12 mpg in chicago driving i tried it also before! just avoid the 290 traffic early or late in the day. also with 10.5 to 1 compression or close to 10 to 1.

Ford Blue my AZZ.... It's a cheap digital camera and the indoor flour.lights that make the color look off. Really !! You think I'd spend what I'm spending on this build and use the wrong engine paint. This ain't my first rodeo hoss. It's the correct 442 color from OPGI or The Parts Place can't remember which at the moment

Drive train IN !!

FINALLY The drive train is complete and in place! Complete overhaul on the motor. TH 400 gone through and rebuilt w/ B&M medium shift kit. Eaton posi unit installed (kept the 3.08 for mileage since this thing will be a tourque monster). All bolted up and ready. Waiting for new exhaust manifolds and will be ready to fire off soon. Wish me luck !

Exhaust manifolds

Got my new exhaust manifolds in. Painted all nice with ceramic cast color header paint. New bolts, studs and gaskets. Drop the passenger side on and bolted up all nice and easy. Get to the driver's side and guess what....Not gonna be so easy. Had to undo the steering shaft. Undo the motor mount and jack the motor up on one side. Finally get it bolted up after figuring out that the dipstick tube needs to go between the gasket and the manifold. Then have to wrestle the motor up and down 6-8 times to get the motor mount to line back up so the bolt would go thru !!! Spent another hour getting the exhaust flanges to line up and bolt up tight. Oh well that's what makes this all so much fun right Still better than working !

Ok after taking off several months for life in general,(i.e. two teenage kids). I am ready to fire up the beast this p.m. Wish me luck, headed out to find a set of gauges to mount on the firewall during break in.

Talking IT's ALIVE...

Hooked up the battery. Checked all fluid levels. Filled the radiator with H2O. Turned the distributor all the way towards the drivers side and backed off slightly. Poured a little fuel in the Qjet,. Hit the key and guess what....NADA... ONLY KIDDING. Damn thing fired right off and man does it sound SWEET. Played with the timing for a little and got it dialed in. Grabbed a beer and sat back and just listened for a while. Been a long time coming. Trying to load a video file but not having any luck. Any secrets to loading a video clip?
I am definitely now fired up and motivated Still couldn't get the damn video to load up so here's a pic...
