Looks good! I would also go with some glass black, however. It does look very grey :/

It still has a grey hue to it, but standing upright out in the sun light it looks more black.

Looks fine to me. When these SSI were new, they were flat black in the centers and satin black on the rim.

I wasn’t going to post these pics as I wanted to do the full reveal, but I am too excited not to. It will be a couple more weeks before it comes home.

Yes, they are cleared over. It is a personal preference of mine, I don’t think the factory did though.

You car is going to look great as well! I am following along.

Thanks Adam! She is not quite done, but I am like Pavlov’s dogs just waiting and slobbering all over myself.
😮😁😁

By June she should be on the road, and to a few shows.

Hownis you project coming?

Man, so true, so true!! I have gained so much more respect for even the original factory installers of everything back then. I've got a dozen + oops putting it back together, and even more after driving it...should of done that, should of done this, etc.

Now I know why guys put it on trailers and don't even drive it.

Looks great. Great seeing it come so far.
My hood stripes were cleared but the side stripes weren't. The guy did them a few months after the paint was done.

I would love to claim all the work, but the body work was done by a gentleman in Covington KY. If any one is close and needs body work, PM me and we can talk.

I do what little I can. Such as I went through 12- 16 beauty rings, cleaned over 2/3 rds of them to find the 4 best that I had, and still not completely happy with them. It seems you keep upping the bar on yourself.

However, sometimes it’s good to reflect on just how far you have come.

BEFORE

AFTER

Funny, in neither picture does the car have an interior yet.

I appreciate it!

I told the Mrs. It finally struck me that this isn’t someone else’s car that I am looking at at a car show....It’s our 4 4 2!

Unfortunately, Nationals is not in the cards this year. I am really going to push for Homecoming though.

Looks great. What did your body man do with the stripes? Mine did the hood stripes before the car was cleared but the side & the trunk a few months later when after he rubbed the car out.

Thanks! Yes it is a great feeling. I got to drive her, although it was just off of the trailer and into the garage. I had never been in the car when it moved on its own.

Thanks Ron! All stripes were done and cleared over when it was painted. Was that you on face book asking about the SSI’s vs the aftermarket rims? If so, I vote for the SSI’s

LOL that was me. I wasn't really asking for opinions but plenty of people gave them. The 17's are going back on. I love the SS1's but it drives so much better with the modern rubber and I want to use the car. Plus I don't like my musclecar having the skinniest tires at the house. If I had to do it over again, I'd just buy radials for the ss1's and be done with it rather than the Wide Ovals. I got them right before the radial version came out.

After I put the belteds back on I took it around the block and thought ohh that feels different & not in a good way

I understand, I like the looks of the Wide Ovals, but not the tread pattern or the ride of those old style tires.

Thanks Rob! I will say when they are done right, some vinyl tops look good, but I don’t like to deal with them. Plus, I think it is sportier looking without the top.

Less than an hour!

I’m wanting to go for a ride, the Mrs is wanting to go for a ride. So, interior be darned, Put the passenger seat in, throw the speedometer in, and away we go.

Stopped by Advance to pick up a couple of things. An older gentleman approached tells me that is a beautiful old Chev... you have there. ( Less, than an hour into the maiden voyage)

I thank him, and tell him actually it’s an Oldsmobile.

He looks at me and says that’s an Olds?

I said yes it is.

He relies: Well I am going to go look it over if you don’t mind.

Go right ahead, but she’s not done yet.
