comp cams 1442-kit

hello everyone, just finished building the 455 engine...i have installed a comp cams 1442-kit in it. just ran maybe a good 3 hrs and i hear a ticking sound inside valve cover. i removed valve cover and found one of the pushrod had been mushroom on top of the tip. i called comp cam and ordered one along with a new rocker for a true mate. after installing it, im hearing a ticking sound again...and i think its coming from the same pushrod location...(by the firewall and below the booster). anyone having problem with this kit....or maybe the pushrod? im using pushrod part #7841 5/16 dia 9.654 length. can i go with a higher end pushrod part#7658 5/16 dia 9.650 length...??? help....

The pushrods that come with the kit almost never work. They usually bend,or distort at the ends.I have always had to use a longer pushrod as well, like a 9.900"
