CNP project begins

I have a bit of time so I decided to get this projeçt thread started. Anyway you'll see below that the top half of the Ford cam synchronizer is very close in dimensions to the Olds diźzy and only requires a bushing sleeve to fit the Olds blocks and made by Mark G. aka Rick Finsta on ROP. The bottom half is going to need to be shortened and a new hole drilled in the shaft for the roll pin. Rick Finsta on ROP has a thread where be has competed a couple of prototypes that works with some EFIs if your interested Cam Sensor Interest?. You can get the dizzy gear for different shaft sizes and types but the cost varies. I plan to use the OEM for testing the CNP and then switch to bronze when I rebuild the motor and just drill the gear to fit the shaft. The cam sync comes in different lengths and is either Hall-Effect or Inductive pickup. Mark and I both use the 3.8L because it is the lowest height of the cam sync's. The only difference between the two is I'm going to use the Hall-Effect and he is using the VR one's. The stand-alone ignition I'm making will work with both types. This setup would be perfect for anyone running a blower and needs room.

Cam sync, adjustment tool, and bushing/sleeve.

Sleeve on.

This is the tall cam sync next to std distributor.

This is what it should look like when done.

What things can look like.
Mike's setup.

More later when I got more.

Very cool. I've seen the Ford cam sensor adapted to the Rover 215s.

I've been working on mine as much as time will allow. I still have to modify my dizzy test bench, finish writing the code and make some circuit boards. But yah, very cool. I think these things could fit quite a few engines.
