71 survivor Cutty getting some love
Hi everyone ,
I'm doin a frame off on my 71 holiday coupe and I want to share my experience with you....
Everything started 4 year ago , when I was searching for a NEW muscle car. I accidentally felt in love with this beatiful Cutlass laying under a pine tree for more than 5 years. As you all know , time runs f**cking fast and I just woke up this summer noticing my Cutty's getting more and more "flaky"

So what I figured to be a simple and superficial restoration just got to a new LEVEL....
here are some pics of da beast

Yesterday I removed the fenders , hood and windshield and WTF !!!!
The bottom of the windshield as been repaired with fiberglass probably 10 years ago. Plus I found some weaknesses around the corners and body mounts.
So here we are , I just removed the body off the frame !!!!
Finished at 1:35 am this morning

Here are the pics:
BTW , I need the rear right rail of the frame ( towing screwed it up
) , if u know someone who knows someone , just let me know...
See ya

Por 15 is good stuff when you are painting over rust. It will turn a dull gray color over time. There are a lot of opinions on what to use. Eastwood is a place you should check out. They have a product called chassis black.

Your project looks like where my 69 started at, lots of work! When I removed my windshield, I think I lost about a quarter of my dash too.
I used Eastwood's rust encapsulator and semi-gloss chassis paint. It came out great with just the right sheen. I can send you pictures of my resto if you want to see them. Just let me know.
Keep us posted with your progress.

Does anyone knows the " critical frame thickness " ?
Explantions: I see important surface rust on my frame , and I'm wondering if a thinner frame will be able to support my engine ( 578 Whp in my last car )... Is there a measure or guideline to know when a frame is no more good?
Thanks
Hey guys ,
Some bad news for me....
4 years ago ,when I bought the car , the guy told me the title had been "salvage" so I would have to get the serial # checked by police and then go through a mechanical inspection. BUT , I had the police coming yesterday and they found a previous owner wich never "salvage the car's title. So legally, MY cutlass is still his car.
I been in contact with him , and he asked me money prior to transfer title..... (f**cker)
What he told me is that he never sold the car; he just abandonned it in someone else's barn !!! WTF. So he now tell me that if I want the title , I have to give him money.... Does someone already dealed with such a situation ????

Sorry to hear about your title issue. Hopefully someone hear can chime in on what would be the best to do. Can't believe some people and what they want.

Thanks for support Darell
Your frame and underbody looks great !!! That's how I want mine to look...
Just found some POR 15 and chassis black , Jeez it's expensive in Canada !!!
192.50$ a gallon each... Might end up with standard epoxy primer and semi-gloss paint.
