Got another coat on the other door and trunk lid.
Started stripping the other fender. Amazing this fender has rust under the edp coating as well.
I was under the impression edp coated metal was ready for primer,
I figured I'd give that a shot.
Turned into a shi.... show. Am i the only one that has to fix the tools before I can use them to fix stuff.
The blasting pot was under a bunch stuff in the hoops house and took some effort to get it out.
Once out I figured I'd test it out with some recycled media so I filtered a couple gallons of black diamond and started to blast.
Worked out well for 5 or 10 minutes till ran out of media. So back to filtering used media.
Worked for a few minutes and the hose on the 50 yr old blew out.
I couldn't get the fitting out so I decided to cut the hose had to cut the heavy duty strap with a cutting wheel.
I cut the hose and prayed the regular hose clamps would hold I doubled them up and crossed my fingers.
I proceeded to blast and then boom... one of the compressor lines blew in the shop.
After several failed attempts to reconnect without the boom, I changed the connector and pressurized the system and boom, a nearby connector that kept getting stressed from the 1st failure went.
Reconnected and tested everything finally ok.
Back to blasting.. well filtering.
Blasted a little more and decided to get some fresh media.
Next day much better progress got 90% of the inside blasted in an hour or so.
Anway, got the fender pretty close to where I want it
First the blasting line blew then the compressor line This where the most rust on this fender
I am a sucker for new products and had moisture seep through my 2k pimer, so I decided to try a "high build" epoxy.
It requires 48 hrs cure time at 65 +
I was concerned that it was still tacky after 4- hrs but it was fine in the AM.
