70 Cutlass S Build
Hey everyone, i am new to the site. I have a 1970 Olds Cutlass S that i am in the middle of a frame off resto. Bluevista told me about this site, and it looks like a good place to hang out.

Is this the same "Oldzzy" from London (Shane If I remember correctly) that came to look at those quarters that I had last summer?
How's the ride coming along?
Did you make up your mind yet on which trans setup you are going to use?
Post up some pics of that ride of yours. I remember the pics you showed me when you were here, it was looking pretty sweet then...

Yes i am the same oldzzy that came to your place. I will find some pics and post them up, i did a lot of work to it after i met you. I ran outta nice weather tho, so i am looking forward to spring actually getting here. I haven't made my mind up on a trans yet but i am still leaning towards the TKO600. My job is not looking to good right now so things are on hold.

Hey Shane, Welcome.
Many thanks to J-(Chicago) for posting your ad.
He's one of the good ones.
I took the car out for the first time this year and was listening to the 8 track today. I got another faceplate and repo case but I think that case was better. The repo has lots of problems, they had to really try hard to make so many stupid mistakes.
The unit sounds good, just as bad as I remember, perfect.
I know you have pics, you put one on the letter when you shipped the unit, if it were my car I would too.
My Vista Cruiser would look really cool with those wheels.
Can you get them in woodgrain?

next step is up on the rottisserie!
The drivers side had some rust issues. It had a few holes and some really thin spots, so i cut it out and put a new pan in. It was my first time doing this and man did i learn a lot lol After i drilled out all the factory spot welds and got the floor out i sandwiched back between the rocker panel and put in 280 sheet metal screws with hex heads to pull the floor pan tight to the braces and rocker. I then removed the screws, drilled the holes out a little bigger and plug welded the holes all in. A ton of time was involved.

Now time for sandblasting...
I managed to get most of the underside, firewall blasted, and drivers quarter sanded down to bare metal. This was done in late fall and i ran out of good weather so i decided to epoxy prime all the bare metal, and finish the blasting and sandind in the spring.
When i am finished (hopefully someday!), this is the look i am going for. The car won't be quite as low as the picture and the rims will be different style and maybe black centers with polished lip. The car in the pic was photoshoped lower by me.

Thnx guys, If you could see my garage right now you wouldn't think it's so clean!
My friend made the rottisserie for his 72 Charger, and i just made new mounting brackets to fit the Olds. He didn't have plans on paper, just in his head. I guess he just kinda winged it. It's a sweet rottisserie though, i can lower the car on it's side to 1/8" froom the floor so it's great for garages like mine that only have a 8' ceiling.

Started some sandblasting again. Finished underneath the trunk area, drivers and pass door jams, and the sides of the front cowl. Then i epoxy primed all the bare metal. I am blasting the top of the cowl, dash, and around the top of the windshield on Sat. Then i hope to get around the rear window done on Sun. Next week i won't have a ton of time so i am going to try and get the drivers quarter, and roof sanded and primed. Of course weather permitting!
I had the body and paint guy come buy and look at the car. He had turned down 4 or 5 other older cars but said he would do mine, so that made me feel pretty good.

Yeah, thanks Shane....
...for making me jealous...lol
I've got to get over there and see this some time soon.
Looking really sweet man! Keep it up.
I may give you a shout this weekend if I find some time to myself.

I looks great! But do you realise that you put the plugs in your new floor panel upside down? If you're just going for a nice driver then nobody will care. But some people might pick at you for it.
Just sayin.
Nice ride and keep up the good work!

Well got back at it today and was right on schedule. Blasted the rest of the cowl, dashboard, and around the top of the windshield. After blasting i again primed everything. Hopefully tomorrow i will get at the rear window channel, the parcel shelf, and start on the inside of the trunk.

Nice work man!
It looks excellent, not that I would expect less from you.
I gotta get over again soon, got another stack of mags for you. Plus, I don't think I have gotten any of my drool on that intake yet...
