70 442 convert. Front control arm options

Hi All.

I am doing a frame off restoration on a 70 442 Convert. with 455bbc and 4sp

I am about to get the frame back from being powder coated and getting ready to put a new suspension underneath it.

My question is what brand control arms give the best value for the money. I have no problem spending the money to buy a quality set but if I can save some money by buying a good value set that would be great.

I am currently looking at the QA1 Precision front upper and lower tubular control arms listed on SummitRacing.com

Any thoughts would be great. thx

SPC Upper arms

I bought a pair of SPC upper arms that I plan to use with tall ball joints from Howe Racing to improve the front suspension geometry. They're not inexpensive, and you can buy them from Summit Racing; I found a better deal and bought mine from an outfit called Ultra-Rev. I'm still building the car so I can't vouch for the improvement from a driving perspective, but I spent enough time talking with Mark from SC&C (and I read his book) to know that this will be a significant improvement over the 40-year old factory set-up. The general recommendation was to raise the upper ball-joint about 1-1/4" to correct the camber curve - I accomplished this with a .3" taller ball-joint in the stock lower arm and a 0.9" taller ball-joint in the SPC upper arms.

I mocked up everything last weekend using a torpedo level to check the camber as I moved the suspension through it's normal range of travel. My set-up will allow for 3-5 degree of positive caster and the suspension will gain negative camber as it moves into compression (like when you take a hard corner). This will help the car "bite" into the turn instead of "snow-plowing" as the stock set-up does.
