More details
Thanks guys!! I really appreciate that!! Ive been inspired by all of the awesome builds Ive seen on this site!!
Details, well I purchased her from a retired mechanic who basically lost interest in the car.
I purchased her in 2019 for $1500 just as she sits in the first picture.
I was going to do a simple build and clean up, but then I found a huge rats nest in the fender and I realized that most of the wiring had been chewed!
I pulled the carpet out and I could see the floor!! I unfortunately didnt look thoroughly at the car because I was too excited when I bought it!
I replaced all of the power window motors, and rebuilt the front power bench seat. Unfortunately I keep finding surprises as I uncovered more of the car.
I decided to remove the drum brakes and I purchased a 4-wheel disc brake kit from Summit Racing.
I removed the 2-speed transmission and went with a built 2004R from a shop in Florida.
Surprisingly, it was less expensive to have a shop in Florida build it and ship it to California, than to have it built locally!!
The 330 engine was rebuilt and I added aluminum heads, roller rockers, Edelbrock 7111 intake, Isky.520 lift cam, billet distributor, and summit racing ignition box. I reused the crank and rods because they were in great shape and they are forged.
I replaced all of the suspension with an updated tubular 4-link in the rear and tubular upper and lower control arms in the front.
All new coil springs were installed and I lowered the car an inch.
I welded up my own exhaust, I just purchased the Jegs tubing and Flowmaster mufflers and tailpipes.
The only work that wasnt completed in my garage was the paint.
The car was originally painted Sierra Mist with a white painted top. I was going to go back to stock, but I really liked the other colors from the Oldsmobile lineup for that year.
I recently purchased a 70 Vista Cruiser that I cant wait to start building!! That car is awesome too!!
The Cutlass was my first venture into Oldsmobile, Ive always been a Chevy fan, but I really love the way Oldsmobile built cars and the forward thinking of their designs.

Hi, it was pretty straightforward. The only real issue I had was with the rear axles. Some of the flanges have to be put on a lathe and milled down a bit so that the rotor can slide over the face of it.
Also, allow for enough space for expansion. Make sure that you get a disc/disc proportioning valve and master cylinder. I was accidentally given a disc/drum valve and I couldnt get it to correctly brake.
I replaced the brake lines also, making sure to get lines for a disc brake conversion.
Hope that helps.

Thanks!! I have a few pictures of the day I purchased the Vista. I havent put a lot of work into it yet but I definitely plan on making major changes!!
Bringing the Vista home.
Swapped the hood for a 70 Cutlass 442 hood. I have all of the grill and front end parts.
Putting the kids to work!! They actually love helping.

Lol yes, the previous owner just put those tires and wheels on. Thats not really my style.
I would like to go for a more classic/muscle style look.
I already purchased new springs, brakes, cooling system, and several other parts.
I would like to go back to the original green paint and apply darker green racing stripes.
The engine is currently in the machine shop.

Thanks guys I really appreciate that! Yes, I redid the upholstery. I purchased a kit for a cutlass sedan, and had it cut and re-sewn to fit the Vista Cruiser seats. Then I installed the upholstery.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share a few updates on the progress of my 70 VC.
I recently completed the install of the Summit Racing Max EFI 500. I swapped out the original 2bbl carb and intake (still ran great) and installed the EFI unit on an original era cast iron 4bbl intake.
The EFI absolutely woke the wagon up! I also installed the Fitech force fuel mini system to feed the EFI with fuel. If anyone is interested in the original 2bbl carb and intake, let me know.
In addition, I completed the exhaust system as well. I welded up and installed the Pypes down pipes, Jones X-pipes, Summit Racing resonators, and Black Widow Race Venom mufflers.
