It's not a ponco tach. It's a reproduction that can be used with HEI or box ignitions.I think I got it from OPGI

Thanks Gearhead.I'm a little shocked at how good it came out myself.Just a dirty 2 car garage, one fan, and it hasn't been wet sanded and buffed yet.

ct,
just found this thread. Fantastic job on your project. You've done some very interesting mods to the original look, but they all look 'correct'. When this car comes out in the sun it's going to glow like blazes. Beautiful paint, detail and craftsmanship.

Now that I'm subscribed, I'll look forward to the updates!

Time for another update.Has been a busy couple of days.Put the Dynamat ,carpet, stereo, seat belts, console and new shifter in.What a PIA.Had to make the boot for shifter out of old parts as the hurst cover would not fit the console. With this stereo I can actually hear the music over the exhaust.

The console looks like a perfect blend - great job on the color selection.
Too late now, but did you ever consider putting a set of wide rectangular pipes on instead of the rounds? I know that's more mopar, but I think it would look uber cool. I wish the 64/65 had cut out bumpers with trumpet flares. That would also make the rear look incredible. Don't get me wrong, I think what you've done is amazing. Just brainstorming after the fact.

You have your hands full with your current project. When you start the next one, I'd be happy to suggest stuff. BTW that 64 vert looks incredible just as it sits. The interior looks amazing!

Allan,it's not bad,but the left quarter is rotted through. And as far as the interior goes,I will have to replace the door panels and carpet and redo the console, all the chrome is pitted.Lucky for me I use who I believe to bew the best chrome plater around.Oldstata,if a big block is what you want, don't hesitate. The only reason mine has a SBC in it is thats how I got it with only 50 miles on it,so it gave me a great place to start.

OK I know this is getting redundant, but today was a productive day.Did the rear interior. The scariest part was cutting the holes for the power window switches as the car didn't have power windows before. Now I have to take a deep breath because tomorrow I do the front door panels and front seats.

Very nice job on the interior install.
re: Power window switches - are you talking about the round holes and boots from the A pillar to the inside of the front door? I'd really love to see how you did that because I'm planning to install PW, PL in mine too. I have all the parts. I suspect that unless you have a right angle hole saw, the door needs to come off?

What are you using for the circuit power? Straight off the 'opt' on the fuse block?

Allen,I was talking about cutting the holes in the new interior panels because there is only one spot behind the panels for the switch and harness to fit in and you have to be precise. As far as the hole in the door and the A pillar, you DO have to remove the door then get a metal cutting hole saw(can't remember the sizes)and go to town. The power is drawn off the switched B+.

Wow! those thigh and side bolsters will cup you almost like a 5 point harness! Looking really good! I'd give you a trophy for 'coolest modified car' just based on paint quality and interior. Just think - your wife can drive this while you're slaving away on her 64.

BTW, will you need some new coil spring insulators for that project? They are for 64-66 Cutlass and are huge!! I got them shipped to me by mistake. Brand new never opened. 35.00/pair? I'd sell them for 10.00 + the ride. If you want a pic LMK.

Very nice job! I agree with you about making it your own. If it is not a numbers matching 442, Z28, Buick GS, etc. it really doesn't matter anyway.
I really like that shaved look and the gauges. How long before you will have it done ?

Here are some ideas I was messing with for my 64.

This was "64 Cutlass" 's car on ROP correct? I always liked the look of it (or are you one and the same?)

I have no need for the spring insulators at this time.My wife is afraid of this car and won't even start it ,let alone drive it.Hope to have it all done ,suuure.....in a week or so.yes this was Matt's car on ROP.I got tired of listening to him whine about needing money(not really) and I bought it from him.I had done a little work on it for him so I knew it wasn't a bad investment.

Well for the most part it's done except for the color sanding, buffing an a 3/4 inch wide gold leaf stripe where the body side molding was.I added a couple of pictures of the engine.I realize it's a chevy, but it shore is purdy.

Allan,as we both know all to well it will never really be done, but who really cares.I drove it about 18 miles today ,first time since putting in the new suspension,to get the front end aligned. Not a pleasant experience.at any speed over 10 miles an hour the front tires squealed as if I was cornering at 100MPH.not to mention if you hit a crack in the road the car wanted to roll over. The ride back to the garage was much more pleasant .Was able to drive at about 90 mph with a nice smooth ride.Lucky for me that the staties were all at the dunkin donuts. But next I get to start on the wifes convertible, actually looking forward to it.(I'll get to use the plasma cutter a lot more on that one)Needs much more work.
