1969 Cutlass S
1969 Cutlass S
Back in 2002 I won the battle with the wife and bought my first muscle car ever or what they considered a muscle car. Here in the mid plain states any cutlass I came across was totally rotted from the bottom up and around what I have learned around the window. With my new purchase of a 69 Cutlass S I set forth cleaning it up. I found this one in northern TX which it still had some rust under the vinyl top but all in all the rockers and flooring looked good. First I got the craze of putting a 455 in it with all the goodies money could buy See pics with Blue engine. It was pretty in the beginning but showed every spec of dirt.
Now I didn’t have any car experience whatsoever when I started this but never feared anything. With this I have learned a ton from a couple friends and this site. Right now with the cold outside and warmth inside I and a friend have embarked in a flurry of work on the car. Back in the summer of 2010 I got the frame cleaned up and POR15. Then all the bushings in the in the front and rear control arms.
Next I have pieced together the front disk conversion. Next bent a new fuel line and added a return line. After that bent and ran all new brake lines. This was weekend we set the motor and tranny back onto the chasse. This has all be done in the past 2 weekends. This coming weekend we are setting the shell back on the chasse. I spent this past Sunday scrapping and grinding 42 years of TX dirt and oil off the bottom of the shell. Shell pics on that are coming soon.
I want to say thanks that all have responded to my posts. With this rush on working on the car through the winter I am posting up right and left questions. Keep the reply’s coming and check out the pics.
