1968 Olds Cutlass S Convertible Restoration

The car has been at the painters since the day after getting it back from the engine builder. It is being painted back to it's original color of Ivory. Here is a link to the photos:

A little more progress being made now as the paint has been applied this week. Here are a few photos. Time to reassemble the car and begin the color sanding. Hoping to be done in the next couple of weeks (which my wife equates to it being done in 5 weeks).

Just got the car out of paint last Friday. The below link has some photos I took without making any camera settings so they aren't very good, but at least they show what it looks like with the original color. The shots inside the garage make it look lighter than it really is, which is a creamy Ivory with a slight yellow/green hue to it. I drove it straight back to the engine builder from the painter since we needed to make some carb adjustments, and a few other small adjustments. If the rain stops, I hope to pick it back up again at the end of next week. It seems like this project is never ending.

The car looks great. That's the quickest re-assembly I've ever seen. It took me three months of working every night after work and at least a full day every weekend to get mine back together after paint.

Thanks Mike. I've got to give the credit to the painter for the quick re-assembly.

Just finished cleaning up the exhaust system and undercarriage from all of the paint sanding dust after getting it back from the painter. If you want to see more pictures click on the below link:

Decal Placement

I purchased two decals from Inline Tube, however, I checked the section in the Assembly Manual on decal placement, I can't seem to find where these go. Does anyone know definitively where these two decals get placed?

Wow

Looking very nice! What color is the interior? AND who made the exhaust system? Nice work. Looks like your headers are nice and tucked up underneath.

The interior is parchment. The exhaust from headers back was made by American Racing Headers, and the mufflers are American Racing Headers Pure Thunder.

Hi Tom - What color orange is that? Awesome! I interited a 1968 olds s convertible (350 2bl) a few years ago my dad drove for 30 years its all original and starting to rust. I started the process of getting quotes for a full restoration. I have a lot of thoughts but leaning toward keeping the color (blue sapphire color D with white top and engine). I had thoughts of painting a different color and this orange was in final 3 with dark metallic blue, and dark silver. Anyway still torn on color and what to do with engine. I was thinking of 455 crate an putting original engine in garage. This car will never be sold for sentimental reasons. Full restoration will cost me more than car is worth all redone but in my case it is fully worth it. Mike

Hi Tom - What color orange is that?

Thanks! It is Lamborghini Arancio Atlas....Kind of weird I know, but it really pops in the sunlight. It has a lot of flake in it and kind of changes depending on the light.
