1967 Cutlass Street/Strip build

Going to put this here, as the build has been ongoing for years now, but finally making enough progress that I feel others might like to see what we are up to lately.

Summary:
A Father-Son-Grandson project now that will be the last build likely with my Dad.

This car is intended to be a street/strip machine, built to be fast, reliable, and fun.

Current Go-Fast Parts list:

Engine - Batten Headed 455 - 605 Hp - build thread here:https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...rs-ago-126621/

Headers and exhaust - American Racing Headers - Custom 1 7/8 primaries x 3.5 cone merge collectors with 3 inch reducer extensions currently. A huge thanks to Nick at AMERICAN RACING HEADERS for making the modifications to get these headers to fit the early A- body chassis/frame with the Batten heads!!!!
Nick made these up for us using some stainless 3/8 thick head flanges that I sent to him and I had made with a small water-jet custom shop. Finishing exhaust is currently unknown, possibly 3 inch stainless mandrel bent to magnaflows
Or spintech mufflers and side exits before the rear tires.

Fuel injection - Motec M8 with Bosch Green Giant 42lb injectors

Trans - Built TH 400 - hardened input shaft, 34 element Sprag, Heavy duty clutches, extra clutches in all areas, Shift kit that allows full manual shifting or automatic shifting, governor set for 5,000 rpm shifts currently, stock shift pattern; ultimate converter- secret specs

Shifter - Winters shifter with Reverse lockout

Rearend - 12 bolt Chevy rear housing: Motive Gear 3.73 Ring and pinion with Mark Williams axles with 1/2 inch x 3 inch studs, Big Ford axle bearings and housing ends (no c-clips), Wilwood 11 inch disc brake kit with 4 piston calipers with driver’s side caliper bracket custom machines and modified by me to make it a rear mount bracket instead of front mount (original kit had calipers mounted front and back on opposite sides of the axle, and the emergency parking brake assembly would have hit the frame on Driver’s side), hung on Pillow ball and polyurethane bushed boxed lower arms with adjustable upper arms- double-nutted and free traveling with no bind. BMR suspension 2 inch lowering springs, Lower shock mount relocation brackets, Air shocks to keep it together, looking into shock choices now

Front suspension - stock re-built control arms with Poly graphite bushings modded for grease-channels and zerks, running all with double nuts and zero bind. BMR 2 inch lowering springs, Pro forged tall upper and lower ball joints, new proforged drag link and center link. Currently a 12.5:1 fast ratio Grand National power steering box, possibly changing to manual box for more room and simplicity/reliability. Wilwood front 4 piston 11 inch rotor brake kit, added 3 inch long, 7/16 wheel studs. No shocks yet on the front

Driveshaft - Front Range driveline 3.5 mile steel driveshaft, trying to get the driveline angles right. Had to cut the trans tunnel and raise the trans up in the rear to get the angles better.

Fuel system - -8AN double wall stainless inner braid, poly outer sleeve, E85 safe fuel line for feed/pressure running down driver’s side frame rail, and using stock steel line for return line to system. Currently undecided on fuel tank or fuel cell....

Wheels and tires - Weld Racing Pro Stars; 15 x 5 fronts on 2.5 Backspacing with Kumho Solus TA11 205/75 R15 tires, and 15 x 9 on 3.5 Backspacing rear wheels on 275 Drag radials ( probably Mickey Thompson’s); tires have not yet been purchased.

BODY -

All Stock panels, 95% rust free Texas car, what little rust there was has been cut out and properly patched with new steel.

VFN 4" Bolt-on cowl hood

Color- undecided - for now, it is ugly white, grey primer, and green primer.....

Interior- modified the original teal/green/blue to all be black interior. Original vinyl rear bench seat.

Front seats-2008 BMW 335i convertible electric bucket seats up front with shoulder belts built in. Modified power harnesses and found an adjustable pulse width modulator to tune the HZ of the voltage pulse of the Can-Bus power signal for the wake up voltage signal( this means the electric seats work like they should-way over complicated versus just sending 12v to them). Added welded-in 3/16 Steel straps as underbody seat supports for the mounting areas and spaced the seats to level.

added tilt steering column - Batten headed BBO cylinder head port location was right over the steering shaft, so we are currently modding the steering shaft output to be swayed-over with a new stainless Double u joint system, a new 3/4 DD Steering shaft with a Heim joint to keep it “on-plane” and a new stainless u-joint to go from the 3/4 DD to the steering box input.

Gauges - aem wideband to back-up the dual Motec wideband sensors, vacuum gauge, mechanical oil pressure and water temp gauges

Brakes - all new 3/16 Nicopp hardline running from 7/8 Monza manual dual master cylinder and Wilwood splitter with adjustable rear proportioning valve. Wilwood front and rear 11 inch disc brake kits.

Got the Brakes bled with Pentosin DOT 4LV fluid this past weekend. One more step in the right direction.

Started working on the custom steering setup and trying to figure out the shaft length and location for the steering column mount so we can gain a bit more clearance to the header tube #7 on the Driver's side.
