1967 442 interior strip & seal

With Project #1
AKA: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...6-cutlass.html

on its way over at the body shop has left me time to start my other project!

1967 442
400 ci
4 speed
non ps, non pb.
all stock, all original.

i suspect some floor corrosion, so i'm tearing into it to find out..

firstly, the "oh so pretty" before

now...the not so pretty findings.. now the "not so pretty" findings (sorry 'bout the lousy quality IPhone pics)

overall, not as bad as anticipated. the floorboards for driver & passenger are coated in surface rust, but not perforated. i'll be wire wheeling & sanding to rid the floor of surface rust. i cut the least amount of metal out, while removing all the cancerous steel as well. patches will be hand made and all new seam sealer added.

this should take me a few weekends. (Lord willing!)

Is that a white painted top? I love the painted roof cars, you dont see very many painted that way in 67.

Don i plan on repairing the area with patches, bonded & sealed in, then laying over a preventative.

i know POR15 works great, but i think i can find a better & cheaper alternative.

i am currently investigating "rhino liner" type coatings

Ok so I have to ask here... Whats with the diamond plate patch panels?? That car looks way to nice to do that too.. Now I understand if you dont have access to a welder but whats that going to look like when done?? I can understand if the car was a high school hot rod or a clapped out beater...

Ok so my other question is can you give me some info on how your conversion went putting a 2004r behind a 330?? I want to do that in my 66 vert..
Please IM me

thanks

the patch panels were available at no cost to me, and are a temporary type repair until i can afford to redo the floor pan correctly. i want to drive this car, but didnt want to leave these arear open to more corrosion, and water entry.

the car deserves new floors, but with all my money sunk into my complete rebuild project, i needed to buy some time with this project.

i'll IM you regarding the 2004r

cheers
