Could you translate that ?

If the carb is not near level in the normal position on the ground, you could have a problem with float level.

sorry, not even sure what happened while typing that.

not level, front end is in the air. I was working under it and squirreled. (Reason it’s jacked up).

So I put the carb on and put hood on to see clearance. Figured I wouldn’t have any, was right.

It’s a brand new carb, so I have to set all of that anyway. Though, they are usually pretty close from factory, for most brands.

It will fit with a Torker Performer vs the Air Gap.

True. But that’s not the one I’m using at this point. Have always liked the air gaps and wanted to try them.

I apologize if I’m boring anyone. I love the car, so I keep posting pics without much difference.

if I talk to the wife about it I get, that’s nice dear, then she rolls her eyes as she turns her head

Fill coolant, realize there is a 1/4 pipe hole on either side of block. What a mess. 🤦‍♂️

fill trans, first I forgot to put the plug in the tail, then I realize my pan has a crack in it.

Fill oil, thankfully no mess on that one. But did realize I forgot I don’t have dipstick or tube for oil.

anyone know what length tube and dipstick I need? 66 425. Standard pan.

If I am doing this right! This is the first fire up of the 425!

love it. Now gotta change oil/filter and get it tuned up, after I fix the trans line at the radiator that’s leaking, and the passenger valve cover gasket that’s leaking.

Little better video. My youngest, 18 year old Mr Motormouth, is absolutely in love with this thing.

so cool to see my dads last project and my sons first be so enjoyed by both of them. Makes me seriously happy I decided another project car and that both of them wanted to help on it.

This is how my luck runs, unless I’m missing something.
Runs- check
Tach- check (first try even!)
Trans- err… it’s in park. Then flipped other way. Same story.

Ah well, take the losses with the wins I guess.

Now, onto figuring out why I have zero lights, anywhere.

Started body work a couple days ago. Knew the roof had a bit of bondo in it, but wasn’t aware how much.

as we started to remove it, it became apparent that there was a lot of it. For no good reason that I can discern.

looks like someone was trying to get rid of a couple small dents and just went way overkill on it.

it’s not complete yet, and the sportiness isn’t all dents. Most of them are raised spots. This paint is thicker than Mrs Clause. Sanding would get through some spots way quicker than others.

2nd pic was trying to use aircraft remover, which did okay but not compared to the old stuff. I’ll do rest of body with proper PPE and timber with wire wheel. Gotta see what’s under it all if I wanna do it as right as I know how.

I’ve been slacking a bit. Working on stripping to steel.

the metal under is in mostly better shape than I thought. Some body filler from dents and dings. Going to try and work with some body hammers to lessen the dents before finishing.

Trying various paint removal methods. The chemicals suck imo. A mix of the pads that go on angle grinders followed up with a fine/medium grit blasting seems best so far.

haven’t tried using a coarser media yet. Need to order some and give it a shot.

Forgot my password for a spell. $$ situation has changed and slowed things down so it’s whatever.

Got moving under its own power today without fluids shooting everywhere, and it’s even able to stop.

I do not like the curved detention thing on the automatic shifter. Doesn’t seem like there is enough stops on it. Don’t know what it’s called to look and see if it’s available or if I should fabricate my own. 🤷‍♂️
