Cool 1961 Super 88 Holiday Sedan Project

Hello! Some of you might have seen my post in the Newbie forum but here I figured it's probably best to start a project thread.
Yesterday I picked up a 1961 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday Sedan with with no gas tank and the yabba dabba doo floor arrangement in for the front driver and passenger floor pans. Currently waiting on lock cylinders from Fusicks and searching like a mad man for OEM fuel tank but for the time being I'll be rigging up a temporary fuel tank for fiddling at the house.

Saddled up for the ride home.

Home sweet home!

Will you also need a fuel tank float/sending unit ? I am guessing that if the tank is missing, thats missing also.

There is a sending unit that is rusty and looks not to be in the greatest shape so that's also on my radar as well.

Spent some time working on the Super 88. Dropped the carb off to get rebuilt, got the generator tested(it's working properly), new pertronix ignitor with matching coil, rotor, wires and plugs. Started tearing into the cooling system a bit, got a new thermostat and radiator hoses, pulling the heater core and radiator and getting those tested, repaired or replaced. Check out some of the creative ingenuity that I would in part of the cooling system as well. Onto greener pastures my friends

Wel

Got it to pop off sans Carb with a touch of starter fluid down the intake. I'll be picking up the carb sometime Saturday or Monday after work and give it the beans lol.

You got those valve covers shined up nicely! I had a 61 Dynamic 88 4 dr. Hardtop sometime ago, loved that speedometer. Good luck with your build
