1948 98 Convertible Project from Colombia (South America)

Hi folks, happy to start in this forum with a project we bought back in 2001. My father and got this car in a very bad condition, but we like the way the car looks, found it very rusted in an uncover garage.

The guy who sold us the car was in that day dying of cancer, and told us that these car was his son's car back in 1977 (last time it seems to had the technical approval from authorities). But after his son died in an accident, he left the car forgotten in a parking lot.

One day somebody told me that there were a '53 Chevy Convertible for parts in that parking lot. I went there but found instead a 51 Chevy convertible (completely damaged), and beside a strange car covered with grass. I took a second look and like the fact that was a Convertible (a truly rare specimen in our country, and a brand that was not represented in our country - mostly custom imports-), and liked that it had a lot original parts, was not disassembled when it was painted.

We bought it, "cleaned"it, and stored it in a covered garage. All these years I tried to gather all the books I can found, and bought some spare parts that I recognize as missing form the car.

This year 2019 we decided to begin the resto seriously, so here we are.

We will need a lot of support from you the experts. As far as we know this is the only car remaining in our country (Colombia), so it's hard to check for parts or details.

All comments are welcome.

This is our 5th resto project, our experience is mostly Old VW Beetles, and a 53 Chevy Bel Air. Oldsmobile is a way more unknown and hard to find parts for us.

Hopefully the story will be long, and with no hurries. We will like to share it with other enthusiast for posterity.

Here are the oldest pictures we have, as we found it back in 2001. More to come!

Enjoy.

Thanks for the update and photos. I'm looking forward to seeing more reports and pictures as you make progress. I suspect not very many 1948 98 Convertibles were made and very few of that low number made it to Columbia.
