"engine check light"

I own a 98 Old's Intrigue 3.8. Prior to my state inspection I decided to change the oil , air filter and the PCV valve. The MAP sensor housing came apart when I was removing it from the PCV valve housing. the circuit looked fine so I crazy-glued it back together and the "engine check light" went out and was fine for 2 days, now the "engine check light" is back on. I decided to just break down and replace the MAP today and the "engine check light" still won't go off, any insights? Hope you can help....

Regards,

Paul

Disconnect the battery negative cable and let it set for 15 minutes. Then reconnect it, this should force the engine computer to restart from scratch. You may find that the car is a little rough starting or running or the fuel economy may rise for about a tank's worth of gas but that is the computer re-learning all your engine parameters. This may fix it, not a guarantee. Of course, you will also have to reset the clock and all your radio presets.

check engine light

Hi Dan,
Thank you for the reply. I did try that already with no results. Could it be a faulty new PCV valve? or maybe a small vacum leak around the PCV housing?

Did you put the o-ring back on the pcv valve and the map sensor housing? Did you make sure it is seated right? Also, like reddog said, it would help to know what code it is.
