Hello all, I have a 1968 Cutlass S Post car.
I need help with the back panels and the front door panels.
Does anyone have any pictures as to how these are secured on the door.
I see where there are a couple of door clips but there is no cut out in my new door panels for the clips,
so I was thinking they could possibly be held on by screws or both.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The only way I have seen them attached is with the clips you mentioned.

What brand are the new panels, or where did you purchase them? That may help if someone has installed similar panels.

I have seen some panels that don't have the pre-cut holes for those clips...they will have to be cut out (CAREFULLY) if yours are not already precut...


I think there are 3 on each edge of the front panels, and 2 or 3 on the front edge of the rear panels...

I have used an exacto knife with a new blade....but you have to be careful. The card backing is actually multiple layers that can be cut through a little at a time. If I can find pictures of the last set I did, I will post them.
Anyway, one tip I can offer is to practice cutting the layers...most of the door panels have precut notches in them for the window cranks and door handles...use one of those to practice on....It can be time consuming but you can make them fit nicer since there are no precut holes in them, as I have found that sometimes those pre cut door panel clip holes are in the wrong place anyway...Hope this helps.


Don't push the blade through the cardboard, as the material is thin...

 

Thanks Tom by the look of my front doors they take 3 clips with grommets on each side and 4 screws with counter sunk washers along the bottom of the panel.
I have ordered the hardware kit from opgi.
I will need to mark the location of the holes to be cut out in the panels.
