1972 cutlass floor question

Wink 1972 cutlass floor question

I pulled the front bench seat out and looked under the carpet and it has a rubber mat molded on the floor. It looks like it's glued down. Did they ever come that way from the factory? It has it in the front and back where your feet would be on the floor. Thanks Barb.

Yeah, that's the asphalt sound deadening material.

It gets hard with age, and that makes it less effective. If you're obsessive and have extra money, you can replace it with one of many more-modern products. See Rob's thread on the subject.

OK! That's good to hear. I thought it looked like it could be original, but I've never seen this before. I'll look at this closer when I pull the carpet up next week. Thanks again Barb.
